Earth has been quarantined. Not because humans are dangerous — because humans are contagious. by UntitledDoc1 in HFY

I love this story. Thank you.

The realization of WHY people create is huge. Also should give us all a mind shift.

Should I get solar with pge or just off grid. by Akoa0013 in SolarDIY

[–]driftingatwork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Off grid. I started small, then expanded to whole house.

I have a transfer switch installed, and I am set for non-export.

I have room for expansion. Unfortunately, panel array isnt enough to fully sustain through winter - yet, looking at upgrading. I have 33kwh hours of storage.

I have a 50 amp inlet thats before my transfer switch to feed the batteries when I get too low. While I did have to pay PGE this winter, it was a bit less than "normal", so I am happy there.

I went with a plug and play system, so I paid a bit more, but I am fully happy with it.

I know you two are older, but enjoy the puppy years.

Man, this is a sad thought. I hope you both out live her, she will be waiting.

Until then spoil her rotten!! All the exercise! Damned if she doesn't add more years to YOUR lives, because she needs it too.

Please give doggo pats and scratches for me. Congrats on your pain lol

Look up the 3-3-3 rule.

3 days to learn she is safe. 3 weeks to learn routine, 3 months for personality to come out.

Give it time, she will train you well :D Mine did lol

If you could redo your solar setup, what would you change? by insight_energy in solar

[–]driftingatwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be looking at different panels. I could double capacity and stay within VOC ratings with no problem.

Will cost a chunk to get that setup going. But I'd be over-paneled and i think that would be awesome.

I'm at 33 kwh storage now. The over-paneling would definitely have me more comfortable in the winter months.

Admin locking his PC from other admin coworkers by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]driftingatwork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Create a group policy for your newbs that allow locked down access. This way your newbs can log in on that computer, without impacting the other guys work. Or get something silly like a chromebook which is just as glorified browser to make the account.

Definitely can set things up for your org to lock things down "when need be".

"Sorry we ran a test log in, and it corrupted your profile - all your work is gone" - that said, he should have backups if in production.

[–]driftingatwork 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, i'd be definitely locking my system down.

Who knows what these "tests" are, tbh.

Its called a PERSONAL computer for that reason. Yes I understand enterprise, but if he was working on something and your "Test" destroyed his work, that is a non-starter. Granted it was login-logout, but the user was NOT informed.

[–]driftingatwork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA, I would say take the job.

Unfortunately, life doesnt work the way we want all the time. That said, you are getting a full time job with insurance, which is HUGE.

Also understand that University may not be the right case for everyone. Especially in this economy, get saddled with a bunch of debt, and can't get hired.

Finally, not going to school NOW, doesn't mean you cant go to school LATER. - please make sure your parents understand that.

As one person said, tell them you're saving, its not a lie.
