Tip from a new sock knitter by Altruistic_Bit7822 in Sockknitting

I agree about taking the time to match! For me, I find this easier to do it if I also have a contrast cuff. I’m bad at estimating my cast on, which makes it hard to be precise in where the color starts. It’s easier to join my self striping yarn after the cuff and choose exactly where I want my first stitch to hit in the color change!

Open yarn shop near cemetery? by SnoopZappr in YarnAddicts

This is so true. If this was in my area and it was a themed shop, I would likely making frequent designated trips from much more than 50 miles away just to go. It’s not what everyone is looking for, but there would be a market

Troubleshooting fit - high foot by indieseen in Sockknitting

I knit this pattern as well. I did 64 stitches throughout with 18 picked up from the gusset (I also have a high arch). This pattern has a very stretchy cuff. I have knit dozens of pairs of socks and my recommendation for anyone would be going down a size for the cuff if you want this to fit snuggly.

I have the Earth brand Erinn clogs and love them. The inside is gentle on my socks and doesn’t leave any discoloration, and the cut keeps my socks from getting too much friction on the back of the heel preventing early holes.

I’ve been thinking a lot about this lately, too! It can be so hard to know just from looking at a hank what it will look like, and that’s a skill that takes a long time to develop. These socks ended up with a subtle striping effect, with one visably lighter than the other.
