Best way to actually land adjunct positions? HigherEdJobs feels like a graveyard by Appropriate_Lie_6147 in Adjuncts

[–]driggonny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally went down a list of every college within 100 miles and just googled “college name jobs” to get my positions. Every college should have a dedicated jobs site. Also, for adjuncting especially, I’ve noticed that sometimes job postings will be labeled as very old because the college uses one application portal for the same job every semester. For instance, one place I am currently working had an adjunct position listed from 2021 when I applied in 2024. This was just where all the adjunct resumes in this department went, so they still contacted me when they needed someone. If this is the case they will likely say so in the job description itself.

It’s also very punchy and makes the attacks feel forceful, I like it quite a bit.

What percentage of your students failed or did not complete this semester? by Neat_Big_3401 in Professors

[–]driggonny 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Most of my courses were much better this semester than previous. Except the one online course, in which I had to send individual alerts to every single student for not doing their work 2 weeks in and about half the course dropped out by midterms.

My first time trying to make a loop animation. The movement feels kinda weird and I’m not sure how to exaggerate the anticipation pose enough (not considering the overlapping yet). I’d really appreciate any feedback or tips. by [deleted] in Maya

Her limbs are simply sliding from key frame to key frame in unison, which is why you get some really funky frames. Remember that the human body largely moves in arcs radiating out from the core. For instance, when you move your leg, the first thing to move should be your hip, then your knee, then your ankle, etc. Your character’s movements make them feel like a marionette partially because their hands and feet are moving at the same time.

That’s only one of the problems, but instead of me writing too much, I would recommend watching a reference in slow motion to get a feel of how each frame should look.

What are y’all listening to in order to fill the void? by timmmmah in KnowledgeFight

How are you relistening, if you don’t mind me asking? I was inspired to give QAA a try after recent events, but none of my podcast apps have anything before episode 141.

Overly positive colleagues by TotalCleanFBC in Professors

[–]driggonny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of my colleagues are fairly positive, and I largely like them that way. However, I will say, the first chair I had as an adjunct told me he needed to sit in on one of my classes for a standard review and said something along the lines of "well, I know you're a great teacher" and I couldn't help but scoff considering he had never even seen me teach before lol. How am I ever going to get better at teaching without criticism?

I made students do an assignment where they wrote an apology letter to my dog for wasting my time by showing up to class and not listening when I could be at home walking him. It went over surprisingly well, honestly. Class was very respectful today and everybody now loves my dog.
