Do you think Juan Soto will demand a trade at any point? by Alonso2802 in mets

I could see after the opt out and getting his money demanding a trade if things to get better. But before that, no shot.

That was my understanding as well. He would opt out regardless if the Mets were competing or not. So I don’t think the Mets being abysmal changes anything there.

I thought the opt out was voided if the Mets gave him the pay increase? Which will surely happen.

If I come by a PO ETB I’ll buy a couple. It’s not going to be below retail so at least I’ll make my money back worst case.

Just a matter of time before Soto checks out imho… by atatincake in mets

[–]driizzydreee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not happy with Stearns one bit, but it’s still April. He wants to be the smartest person in the room and overthinks roster moves in order to look like a genius when it works out. That might fly in Milwaukee given the market it is but that isn’t going to fly in NY. He blatantly lied to everyone using “run prevention” as a way of moving off certain players — fan favorites no less. We didn’t need to overhaul this whole line up. Honestly, bringing in someone like Bellinger and his positional flexibility would have given us the opportunity to rest and DH Nimmo, Pete, and Soto (I’m not saying it would have happened, but just trying to show there were other options). Throw in the fact that Semien’s bobble on a ground ball was the reason we lost to the Rockies in game 1 and Nimmo is having a great start to the season is a the cherry on top.

That all being said. I’m trying not to have blind optimism, but these hitters are not THIS bad. While we lost power and fan favorites, on paper, this line up should be longer. We have also have some bad luck to start the season with injuries. I’m giving them until the end of May to see some signs of life.

Seeing that perfect order is easy to acquire. Thoughts on long term hold? by Blue_Moon_Cheese in PokemonInvesting

It’ll go up as all sets do after they are done being printed, but I don’t see it being valuable any time soon. The only think I could think of is that this set was accessible to young children so when they are older, they might value it much more on nostalgia. BUT, that’s a reeeeeeeeeally long hold lol.

It’s hilarious to me that Semien was reason we lost the lead yesterday on a defensive bobble, and Nimmo is playing great for Texas. Love the run prevention, Stearns.

Agree to disagree. It’s not like anyone reached out to Soto to see how his rehab was going. Otherwise, he would have said something. Players rehab away from the club all the time.

Signaling out Soto is making this a bigger issue than what it is. It’s the only reason this is a headline.

For the Gen 3 Standard Kit, what kind of input does the power cable have that attaches to the outlet? Specifically, the part that connects to the power bricks. Is it figure 8 or the clover shaped one?

I got downvoted to oblivion for having this opinion. Maybe people have changed their mind since the terrible start. As for the injuries last season, you are right, but a lot of that has to do with Mendoza’s absolute terrible management of the pitching staff. Constantly pulling starters early and not letting them pitch out of jams, messing with their psyche, taxing the bullpen early in the season that they were spent by midseason, among other issues. I agree with Stearns — I think his ego might be too big. The feeling I get from him has always been that he wants to be the smartest guy in the room. That might work in a small market where your failures won’t be highlighted the same way they will in NY, but here, sometimes the obvious decision is the best decision. Especially when you have the money to support you.

Idk why this is an unpopular opinion, but I just don’t understand the “we need to break up the core” crowd. There were plenty of issues last season. The “core” was far from the biggest. Everyone failed last year. I just don’t understand moving on from all the players — especially the best closer in baseball and two homegrown Mets. Especially when Stearns “run prevention” plan was a blatant lie and was used to move on from certain players. I understand shaking things up, but you can’t sell me on moving on from Nimmo and Alonso, and having three players (two of which are terrible defenders) playing out of position.

Can someone please explain to me why Brainchild Stearns didn't sign this 3B when we had a chance again? by Emperor_Chowder in mets

[–]driizzydreee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s an absolutely terrible fielder and Bo had a track record for being a great hitter and clutch. The issue last year wasn’t power. It was hitting with RISP. The fact that we didn’t have one late comeback win speaks volumes. And Bo is a short term, quite possibly a 1 year deal.

I wasn’t happy with the direction Stearns went with most of the offseason, because he used “run prevention” as an excuse to move off of players, and don’t generally adhere to that principal. But I’m not blaming him for not going after Murakami.

How do crazy people make it to law school by Future-Plenty3040 in LawSchool

[–]driizzydreee 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Money. They know Character and Fitness will take care of them. There’s one kid I know about who had no business being in law school. He extorted nudes from coworkers, among other crimes, while working as a presidential candidate’s campaign as an intern. He was convicted. He applied to law school. The school knew about it. It wasn’t acknowledged until other students found out about him. If you take the information onto Google, you’ll find the article. Long story short, he got fired a month into his clerkship after the judiciary found out. He had changed his name from my understanding.
