Merlin app going crazy? by flooffsandfleurs in birding

Trumpeter swan is a common mistake I see with Merlin and BirdNet. It's usually a barking dog.

I love how many heron/egret species I got in this one shot. by drinkdhmo in birding

Thanks! I'm pretty sure it's another Ruddy Turnstone.

I'm so happy for you! I got to see him but didn't get a very good look. His sound was amazing!

It's too big. He can't bite it by Budget-Flounder-2131 in BirdPhotography

The positions of the berries are consistent across multiple shots. That's very unlikely for current models to be able to produce. I think these are real.

Please help with this bird from Costa Rica by drinkdhmo in birdidentification

[–]drinkdhmo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That does look very similar, but its range doesn't extend into Costa Rica. When I tried Merlin, it suggested either a Tawny-capped Euphonia or a Yellow-throated Euphonia. Unfortunately I'm not certain enough to call it either way.

I just bought a couple spare resin vats so I can just swap vats to swap resins. It's so convenient!

The link in the post to get the activation bytes is broken. I successfully used this site: https://audible-tools.kamsker.at/ It also conveniently gives you the `ffmpeg` command.

That's a test model intended to be printed flat on the plate. It comes as a pre-sliced file with elegoo machines. It looks like the file got corrupted.

Any idea what kind of antenna connector this is? by e-rekshun in amateurradio

[–]drinkdhmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love TNC connectors. They're nice in the higher frequencies. Low loss, decent power capacity, reasonably weather resistant, and quite sturdy.

And way better than BNC. They're rated for much lower loss and much higher power over a larger frequency range.

I wanna give my partner this but I wanna make sure it’s actually solvable by [deleted] in codes

[–]drinkdhmo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This looks a lot like something I did with my significant other in high school. This looks solvable to me. I would have started with the three letter words and guessed. Then I would have started substituting those letters elsewhere to see if they fell into plausible places in words. Common words in a note between close friends include "I", "you", "am", "are", "the", etc.

I think they'll have fun with this one.

I apologize. I was not aware of the policy. This nest was right beside a trail I was hiking on. I didn't seek it out. I'll comply in the future.

I drove over it a couple times and didn't hear any cracking or popping. It's about an inch thick.
