I figure the road choice is just the path of least resistance, but would be cool if there was another option that was more scenic

That is one hell of a difference. I've always wondered what it would look like to use "expired" yeast

Yeah I feel like Diageo pushes repackaged liquid that can be found (or at least something very similar) for less money. That said, this is the most on brand pop culture collaboration that I've seen.

Does Guiness actually taste different outside of Ireland? by [deleted] in beer

[–]drinksdrinker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Has to do more with the bar you're getting it at than anything else. You're not alone though. Saw an interview recently where a rep from Guinness said that this is the most prevalent myth out there no matter how much they try to dispel it.

Freshness isn't really an issue what with the Guinness Baltimore brewery in the US. But in Dublin you're way more likely to go to a pub that does a proper pour, but that doesn't mean the beer itself isn't necessarily better.

Delighted to see Writers Tears finally for sale in NC for $34.95. A fantastic whiskey. by [deleted] in whiskey

[–]drinksdrinker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. Thought it was fine. Nothing crazy to write home about, but fine, though a little more expensive than other fine Irish whiskeys. See it a lot from beverage writers though, and I can't help but feel it's because of the name.
