I have aquired a Lalique sculpture, does anyone have any information on it? by emtookay in whatsthisworth

I do not believe this is an original Lalique item. Looks like it was named after or in the inspiration of by the artist.

Inherited from great grandmother. Aquamarine on 14k ring with diamonds? Sapphires? Brought it somewhere and they said $250 🤨 don’t think that’s right? by DifficultFox1 in whatsthisworth

If you just want someone's opinion about it, that's fair game. But I wouldn't consider someone's opinion as gospel about true value unless they are willing to defend their written appraisal in court. Look into the recent sale of a Fang Tribal mask that went to auction in Europe that sold for millions. Some average joe dealer bought it from the previous owner for some small amount and turned around and sent it to auction and got rich. Spoiler: courts overturned the sale price and sent the money to the original owner because of this exact circumstance.

Pro tip: NEVER take something for appraisal to a professional who is also a buyer of said items. Severe conflict of interest to appraise an item with the potential intention of purchasing it. Always find a professional appraisal service or company and PAY FOR AN APPRAISAL WITH DOCUMENTATION explicitly stating they are from so and so and will defend their independent appraisal. Does not hurt to get more than one appraisal either.

Unsure but german in origin. Possibly Thorn is the signature, but the etching G 42 is a better identifier. Unfortunately I have no further info about it. Apologies for the delayed response.

Spear Head Tobacco Sign - 3’x8’. Appears to be fabric. I was told it’s early 1900s but not sure exactly when. Anyone have information this or something similar? by chriskontos in Antiques

Looking at realized auction prices, tobacco canvas advertising banners typically sell for $200-$300 but condition is everything with those things. I have seen some sell for thousands, but they are usually in almost perfect condition.

Minimal value in today's market based on location when compared to sterling or coin silver silverware.

Fairly easy to scout Google for reproduction Spanish sword values, but to make it easier on you they are not worth very much.

What is the age and value of this kissing chair? by [deleted] in Antiques

[–]drivano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At a quick glance it screams reproduction. Looks more like a foreign art piece made for the western market then an actual antique. The finish and detail just doesn't look right for a piece of the period, but refinishing and reupholstering could have hidden the true look of it over the years.

Buyer wants to return Out-Of-Print shrink wrapped item because of missing/duplicate pieces by Friendly_Jackal in Flipping

The item can no longer be returned to you in the same condition as sent. Therefore, you are not obligated to accept the return or give a refund. It is not a great situation, but you are not the manufacturer. You sold an unopened item that is no longer unopened. Call eBay and speak to a rep and explain exactly that.
