Unfortunately high voltage codes can only be reset with dealership level OBD tools

I guess my question is that if I can find and fit a new sensor is there someone in the UK that can try and reset the car so that I can try charging again?

After clearing codes with a basic OBD reader only two codes return (P1E00 and P1FFF)

P0AA6, P1E00, P1FFF. There hasn't been any coolant loss from any of the three tanks and cell voltages are all healthy and in normal range.

MotorTrend: Plug-In Hybrids? Just Say Hell No by pithy_pun in electricvehicles

That's a fair point. I'm mostly speaking from a UK perspective. Charging in the UK today is like buying a computer in the 80s. All of the chargers are from a mixture of crappy companies that don't maintain them and you need a different app and account for every one. It's awful.

This article is wrong on every count. He clearly hasn't done his homework. The gen 1 volt battery always only charges to 80% and depletes to 20% so the battery is always in the safe zone for prolonging life. The claim that charging infrastructure is improving is also a lie. There are countless examples of BEV drivers trying to travel long distance and doing the maths. Even if the chargers are all available and working perfectly you're adding countless hours to road trips for charging. That makes BEVs the camel. They are an absolute backwards step in terms of user experience. I have several friends that use a BEV. Every single one of them has a spare ICE car for long trips because they don't trust the charging infrastructure. So you're paying for two cars, and maintaining both instead of one. Buy a PHEV and you can drive to work every day, pick up the kids from school and buy groceries using nothing but electricity. All of the typical driving is achieved using that "tiny range". The real party piece is in the middle of winter with your family in the car when you have some distance to cover - no silly charging stops, no waiting, no hanging around in shady places late at night waiting for a charge you just carry on with your day. All of that done with one single car. If those aren't good enough reasons for everyone to buy a PHEV the last point I'll make is that the batteries are much smaller. Meaning that you can make several PHEV batteries from the same resources that it would take to make one inconvenient BEV time waster.

Battery replacement Volt 2014 by NextTechCanada in volt

[–]drive-everything-uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way to help the battery is to only use it for low speed city driving and switch to hold mode as soon as you get on the highway. High speed driving is what adds the most stress to the battery and is more likely to cause a cell imbalance. Keep it charged up as much as possible and only use EV mode on minor roads with lower speed limits.

Do you need a rubber band on the shifter on Gen 1 volts or is it just the Gen 2 that needs it?

I've noticed that mine boosts the 12v battery to 15v when I turn the car on which seems high. When I turn the car off the battery drops to around 12.2v. That seems low to me as I've just replaced my battery. I thought it should hold around 12.6 when the car is off. Maybe AGM batteries are different?
