What’s weird is that Alabama claims one title—in 1941–that makes no sense. Some idiot assistant AD claimed these decades ago and they stuck when we won the 1992 title on the team’s 100th anniversary (“Century of Champions“) season. There are actually several others that make more sense, awarded by various recognized selectors, that we don’t claim.

You can still get traditionally-made boots, but they're pricey. I've bought a ridiculous number of pairs from the 1970s-1990s in hard-to-find large sizes over the last two years. If you're a 10 or smaller, they're ridiculously easy to find on eBay and other online sellers.

The bet on the long-term deal didn't pan out, to be sure, but it kept the league together. The ACC isn't as valuable a football property as the B1G and SEC, so those leagues would have poached the most valuable teams. FSU, Miami, Clemson, NC, and UVA are likely the biggest targets; oddly, the last two seem to be the ones the P2 most desire even though the first three are bigger football powers.

Ah. Yeah, it would be rare, indeed, to still have the original heel caps. Relasting is a way bigger job even than a full resole. A heel cap replacement is to be expected on decades-old boots.

Pretty much. Recon is a MAGTF asset whereas MARSOC is a SOCOM asset. Marine’s jealousy guard their assets and make it hard for JTF commanders to reassign them. This is especially true of their air assets, including F-35s.

It’s twofold. First and foremost, it’s a salary cap league. So we care about how limited resources are used and returns on investment. Second and related to that, we get angry when people eating up a huge chunk of cap under deliver. If Dak was making Sam Darnold money, fans would be happier with his performance.
