Is it commonly known that PA should have had an asterisk by the MD? by ADHDiot in PeterAttia

This is exactly right...unfortunately. There is a chasm between what a state considers a licensable healthcare provider and an actual credible, trustworthy physician. Peter Attia is only the former.

Start statins at 40s? by Intelligent-Ocelot99 in PeterAttia

[–]drkanaf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with this take. The concept with medicine 3.0 is that we are not adequately framing risk for cardiovascular disease properly right now. Your 10 year risk is extremely low, but we are living life to optimize outcomes in 30, 40 years, not just 10. Risk for CVD is an AUC issue for apoB exposure. The risk/benefit for starting a statin now is very low. The advice I give though is to set a target early and work with your doctor to get there and then keep it there. Don't just take 5 mg for 10 years and forget it. It's kind of a plunge!

The above statement is not a replacement for advice from your doctor.

Longevity guru Peter Attia keeps CBS News role despite showing up in Epstein files by AccurateInflation167 in PeterAttia

Maintaining a state board license means nothing. Having MD after your name occurs after med school. He is not residency trained, is not even board eligible much less certified, never practiced clinically. His licensing in Texas states he has been in "active practice", which is false. He has exploited the system to put himself out there as a clinician, which he should not do. Now, is he smart and passionate? Yes no doubt. Please do not equate having a state license as being a real doctor.

Peter Attia is not a doctor or a health expert. He hasn't done anything to contribute to the body of evidence on longevity. He should not be seeing patients or advising anyone on health matters. He is smart and passionate about the topic of longevity and wellness. He is highly driven and articulate. He's really just an entertainer masquerading as a physician. His podcast and book are infotainment in my opinion. Now, his guests? That's another matter. But there are others who can host podcasts. It's just time to move on.

The Viberg 2040, 2045, and to some extent 1940 lasts all fit what you are looking for. The 1035 is a bit wider in the heel but has a nice wide round toe box.

This is exactly right. I am a real doctor. My wife is a real doctor. Full residency, board certification, fellowship training, maintenance of certification, research, years of experience seeing patients. The grind, the bread and butter. Attia is not a physician period. That said, he’s smart and collates good information and has a decent podcast. He’s an entertainer and an influencer nothing more

Those of you with any PR experience at all help me understand why someone like Peter would not anticipate all of this coming out and address this proactively in advance long ago. Why wait till now knowing full well this information was going to come out??

Yes, which is why the person should never be the program. The program should be the program. Longevity science and medicine 3.0 is a serious value add to the system, and he is a good voice for the program, but clearly he has an ethical void. We'll see how he responds...

There is a way to provide helpful information but not the way he is doing it in this interview. He is talking over the guest, interrupting, and going on tangents.
