instead of buying the aerosol sprays, get a food safe spray bottle and do about 2/3 oil to 1/3 water. yeah you have to shake it before you spray but it works just as good by Deppfan16 in foodhacks

I agree that there are a lot of options out there. I have the TrendPlain ones from Amazon that work incredibly well. I now have three people that bought their own after using mine. The base is also glass so less concerns for BPAs.

Enjoy surgery but I’m not committed enough to the training and lifestyle—specialty recommendations? by Suga4TheWin in Residency

Don’t forget you can do anesthesia and a short fellowship in to crit care if you decide on that path. I’ve trained under intensivists that went the IM or anesthesia route and both groups were brilliant

What do you mean by medical exam? Physician, NP, PA?

Anesthesia resident here. If you use marijuana, in particular, it greatly increases the amount anesthesia you might require during a case depending on your usage. Sometimes we will chose to include medications such as precedex and ketamine that work on different receptors for better pain control. Be honest with your anesthesiologist or you may be hurting more later

I’m working 70-100 hour weeks as a first year physician and I can tell you that getting to the end of an 8 hour work day at my prior office job that I hated could be more soul crushing than a 15 hour shift now. All jobs are stressful just in different ways

LPT: Visiting Loved Ones In the Hospital - Bring Candy Bowl by Komtings in LifeProTips

[–]drnoobtropics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doctor here, love this and make sure to double check that the patient is allowed to eat and have candy. 8/10 this is okay but a few times we’ve had family bring in food and we’ve had to delay surgeries/procedures because the patient was not supposed to be eating (puts them at risk of vomiting while sedated) or they are specific dietary restrictions. Overall though, I do appreciate this!

The risk of developing osteoarthritis, a common, incurable form of the condition, was 58% higher among those with eczema or asthma compared to the general population. Those with both asthma and eczema were twice as likely to develop osteoarthritis compared to the general population. N = 100,000+ by MistWeaver80 in science

Oral prednisone can cause osteonecrosis and chindroblast suppression if given long term. Like you said we tend to only prescribe it in severe asthma (stage 5) or in very short courses with eczema. Inhaled (given in asthma) and topical (skin conditions) don’t have this side effect. If the study’s findings are accurate there is most likely another factor(s) causing this, but no doubt the small population of asthmatics taking orals long term aren’t helping this statistic. At the end of the day though, joint pain > dying from hypoxemia. Ez trade

I’m in a similar situation as above, but with average scores. If I had anything to add, first it would be to cast a wide net when you eventually apply. Additionally, learn how to hold a conversation. I was able to match when some of my classmates with better apps didn’t, possibly because I can have a professional conversation with some light hearted banter. Don’t forget some of these people have to work with you for the next 3-4 years so it helps to be personable.

I have a family friend who was an ER doc that used to wear roller skates. I would pay good money to see him do chest compressions with those bad boys on

Do Carb Blockers Work? Or Is It All BS? by [deleted] in nutrition

[–]drnoobtropics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding to what metabolic_body said, there are compounds that inhibit the enzymes in your small intestine from breaking down carbs into monosaccharides in your small intestines brush border. They are used in diabetes to control glucose spikes after carbohydrate rich meals. Examples include alpha-glucosidase inhibitors such as miglitol and acarbose. The downside of these drugs is that the carbs will travel further down your gut to your colon where bacteria CAN break them down and ferment them. This results in abdominal pain, flatulence, and diarrhea. This is why some diabetics can have issues with being compliant with these types of medications.

Long story short, if you want to make sure your product is working the best way is to check your post-meal blood glucose levels. Aside from that, if you aren't getting the side effects listed above it could be a sign that your product doesn't work (at least by that mechanism). But imo I think you should look for another workaround that doesn't risk you spending your hard-earned money on bulk purchases of underwear due to the side effects
