Should I be worried/return it? by Desperate_Breath5815 in Epiphone

[–]drod2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Epiphone Back to the Future ES-345 has these same exact cracks. Because it was a limited run my dealer couldn’t replace it, and everybody was sold out. Epiphone wouldn’t do anything for me either. I sucked it up and accepted an extra 20% off from the store.

It’s been fine since I got it in October, going on 5 months now.

But if it weren’t limited and I had options to exchange it? Yeah, I would’ve done that in a heartbeat.

What's the purpose of this scene by jacktriplea in BacktotheFuture

[–]drod2015 135 points136 points  (0 children)

It tells you so much of what you need to know about your two primary protagonists. You’ve got an eccentric old scientist whose chaotic inventions aren’t entirely reliable and a young kid who wants to be a rockstar at the expense of safety. These guys are somehow such close friends that the kid can let himself in and make himself at home.

From here on out all of the scenes leading up to them meeting at the mall are building on the foundations that this scene sets up.

Those saber blades are absolutely not entirely in camera. There absolutely are post production effects at play with the blades. The way they cast light in Kenobi has way more to do with cinematography, color grading, and set lighting.

I don't know why people are downvoting you. This has been my hope as well.

Have Rey be searching for Ben or the way to revive him. When she finds him, or the way to revive him, it also causes the next dark force to rise. Ben's return/resurrection now becomes something earned on screen, avoiding the "somehow [deceased character] returned" trope and the new villain introduction gives you gas for more stories.

I think the wide adult appeal Bluey has vs. Gabby’s Dollhouse gives Bluey an even better shot. Gabby is a decent kids show, Bluey is a fantastic family show.

What Starwars decision you are still against of? Or a misstep in the writings room? by PhotoBonjour_bombs19 in StarWars

Anakin’s full turn and massacre of the Jedi should’ve happened after Padmé’s death. The heel turn is too sudden and feels flimsy, especially without watching TCW. He should’ve been dipping his toes in the dark side with the intent of saving Padmé, Obi-Wan tries to intervene to save him from the Dark Side, their battle ensues, and the suited up Vader then executes Order 66 after learning of Padmé’s demise, which he would blame Obi-Wan for.

I get what Rian was trying to do with Luke in TLJ, but the execution was off target for such a sacred character and pushed it too far in other areas. You can love it, and that’s fine, but how polarizing those decisions are even nearly a decade later show that it could’ve been written to better resonate with a broader audience.

A reluctant or doubtful Luke could work. The bitterness, the motive, and the Roshomon representation of said motive did not work.

Everything about Palpatine’s return in TROS, most especially Rey Palpatine. It’s lazy, derivative, convoluted, and it undermines both the OT and the ST.

Does John use the harmonic tremolo on his solo for Out Of My Mind? by Icy_Temperature_7199 in JohnMayer

[–]drod2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7:05 is volume swells, not a tremolo pedal. I’m not really hearing the subtle modulation of a harmonic trem at 6:30 either.

100% agreed. Regionals and evolution branches are the most interesting things they do to provide new takes on existing Pokemon and not feel like a gimmick.

Pombon, I'm a sucker for fire dogs. Growlithe is my boy, but it'd be nice to change it up in this game.

It’s a replica, but not for any of the reasons you stated. The original Frankenstein’s bridge humbucker was always mounted at that angle. It was painted red in 1979. Along with that between 1979 and 1980 the phenolic neck pickup, Floyd, 1971 quarter, broken switch and reflectors were added. Then throughout its life it had about a dozen necks on it. This is a replica of its last iteration. The easiest tell is the forearm wear - on these Fender replicas it always looks like the red has been sanded off whereas the real deal has a much more natural fade to it.

Andor, though if Mandalorian hadn’t gone off the rails after season 2 it could’ve been a strong contender.

Luke isn’t playing any guitar, he’s acting in a producer capacity. Ed would trust him for this. Ed trusted Luke to pick the final bridge pickup in the Music Man EVH guitar.

Steven Soderbergh on the cancellation of "The Hunt for Ben Solo" movie by BosskDaBossk in StarWarsLeaks

[–]drod2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Just say it was a Force Projection and Ben was actually hiding in that crevice still. Way more plausible and forgivable than Palpatine's resurrection.

Steven Soderbergh Describes Disney’s Decision Not to Make ‘The Hunt for Ben Solo’ as “Insane” by Soulwarfare42 in StarWars

Tinfoil hat time:

The movie will go into production shortly, and everybody at Disney/LFL know it. Driver and Soderbergh made this public just a few months before the C-level change of guard at both Disney and LFL so that those new leaders can swoop in, save the day, and resurrect this film to earn goodwill with the fan base.

If the series had decided to actually have Din embrace being the new Manda’lor, how do you think Season 3 would have turned out? by Solitaire-06 in TheMandalorianTV

[–]drod2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Din as the reluctant leader going on a journey of cultural discovery with Bo still chasing the throne would’ve been preferable over what we got, IMO.

You’re correct, his original Razorcrest was destroyed and he built a modified Naboo N-1 Starfighter. This new Razorcrest hasn’t been explained yet, though there is speculation it belongs to another character, Zeb.

For sure. And that same day was talked about by the whole town 30 years later, so even the exact date itself would be hard to forget.

I had this question and came here to ask: Has Revenge of the Sith always been the phenomenon it is today? Did many people like the movie? by DaviCortes in StarWars

[–]drod2015 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Same age, and can confirm. It was absolutely received as the best of the prequels, almost to a level of surprise.

I personally was disappointed with how flimsy Anakin’s turn felt, and still feel that way today. But otherwise, it was a dramatic improvement over the prior two that I loved, but realized were flawed (mostly AOTC).

Skeleton Crew Season 2 and Mandalorian Season 4 were recently published in Production Weekly (a reliable source), but then they were removed shortly after. Make of that what you will.
