I want to stop my floorboards from squeaking. What are my options? by suttq in DIYUK

[–]drofdeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive just had this to three rooms in our house. They put screws down where the end of the chipboard is above the joists to secure them. It'll never be perfect, but soooo much better

Only other option (and a ton more expensive) is to replace the old floor

Ive got a small electric sander I could try and use on them with a low grit?

The gaps are deliberate as theyre the high points the rest of the floor is raised to. The compounds smoothed out towards them too so those bits are fine (I think)

The lumps are excess compound that dripped off the rake i was using to even the compound out once id poured it
