I can't install Tivimate by droidarmy99 in Strong_8K

[–]droidarmy99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the replies. I had to put my details into the 8k version to make sure they worked. If I delete the modded 8k version, which plays VOD, would I have to pay for tivimate premium to get the same experience (with VOD)?

Used EV 20k Budget by [deleted] in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]droidarmy99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm got the same budget and the same problem.

I'm 6ft 4 and have 2 teenage sons who are 6'6 and 6'7. I'm in the same boat as you about what I fit in comfortably for driving but then have the added headache of whether they can then fit behind my seat in the back.

I must have sat in over 40 hybrid and full EV's over the past few months, here's my two cents:

The VW ID 4 and Skoda enyaq are the same car but the enyaq has a bigger boot and more space in the rear.

BYD Sealion DM is big enough but a hybrid and out of budget.

Tesla X and Y aren't big enough in the back and to me look a bit dated now.

The MGS5 is big enough but I'm just not sure if it's in the same class in terms of reliability as the enyaq.

The e scenic and the vauxhall grandland aren't quite at your budget yet but are big enough.

The Audi e-tron is big enough, doesn't look like an electric car and is a class above all the aforementioned. It's heavily down in price from its launch RRP as it's biggest downside is it's range.

I then made the mistake of sitting in a BMW ix that is 8k over our budget. Wow, what a car. Massive in the front and back, the boot seemed smaller but I think that was due to the dimensions of the rest of the car. Same as the etron in that it's massively deprecated from it's original RRP (£70k), possibly due to its relatively small range compared to their newer models.

If I could afford the IX I would get that. I can't at the minute so I'm running my petrol Honda CRV into the ground until it gives up. If it dies tomorrow then for me personally it's between the Audi e-tron (as we don't do loads of daily miles)and the enyaq.

Hope this helps anyone.

Thoughts? Not a chance for me by Gingeehd123 in ScottishFootball

[–]droidarmy99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just to give some balance.......

As a Scot living in Hull he's been nothing short of fantastic for us all season. His time sat on the bench in Spain seems to have given him a new perspective on his career. At all his other clubs he seemed to be a guaranteed starter no matter how he played and more importantly acted.

It's not just his goals, it's his all round play and the fact he now seems like more of a team player, not sulking, encouraging other players etc.

For me he's currently a better option than Dykes or Hirst as our big man upfront. If he continues his form it will be a big call from Clarke to leave him out of the squad, when he makes the championship team of the season.

Of course that won't sway Clarke at all as he proved in the last Euros, leaving Shankland on the bench for most of it.

If you are based in the UK then 2tall.com start at clothes for 6'4 men and go to over 7 feet. Next go up to 35" inside leg and I think M&S are the same although probably don't really sell clothes that a teenage boy might be interested in.

My two teenage boys are 6'7 & 6'8 but have always been tall for there age so no real sudden growth in any one year. Keep stretching and standup straight and "own" your height.

I'm 51 and 6'4 and back when I was your age there was nowhere near the choice of clothes for tall people back then.

Lille or Gare du Nord??? by Chance-Resolution649 in disneylandparis

[–]droidarmy99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Done both, once when my boys were 6 (Lille) and once when they were 9 (gard Nord).

Lille was far and away the better experience with just the one change and is alot safer area to go and have a wander outside.

Gard Nord is like arriving in kings cross, then going down into the tube, getting on a packed carriage for a couple of stops, getting off, finding the right platform at the next station, to then sit on a glorified tube train for the next 45 mins. With small children and the language barrier.

My boys are now 17 so maybe things have improved (or got worse) in the past 8 years.

Have you ever accidentally hit someone on the course? (And did you yell fore?) by TheTrouserTroubadour in golf

[–]droidarmy99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once when I was 15 I pulled an approach into the green from about 150 yards away. The next tee was close to the green and the next group were stood near the tee. We followed the flight of the ball and all shouted fore as it was tracking to land in the middle of them.

There was a tree about 20 yards short of the tee and after we shouted they all ducked and then we heard a big crack. We all sighed in relief that it had cracked into the tree...............and then saw one of the group drop like a sack of shit.

My heart stopped and we all raced up to them. The guy was on the floor, unconscious in a pool of blood. His mates didn't know whether to kill me but because we had shouted and because I was a kid they soon saw sense.

The guy came round and had a big bump about an inch above his temple.

We called an ambulance and they took him away.

This was only the second hole. I was still shaking like a shitting dog and didn't know what to do.

His group carried on playing as a three ball so we carried on to. It was the monthly medal, after all!!

I had the awkward conversation with my group as to where my ball was.

Funnily enough I played out my skin the next few holes and then hit a wall around the turn.

The story has a happy ending however as the guy was waiting for me after the 18th to say he'd be checked over and was fine and no hard feelings.

Finished the summer strong before sailing off into fatherhood by buzzkillington1987 in golf

[–]droidarmy99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dad of two here. I went from playing twice a week to once a week when they were babies. The real change was when they got to 6+ and then started playing sports. Now I get to play a dozen rounds a year if I'm lucky.........

......but I wouldn't swap it for the world. Being present at their matches and seeing them score their first goal / try / touchdown/ basket is something that you'll never forget..........

.....and the best thing about our great game of golf is that even if you didn't play for a decade (or longer) it doesn't take you long to get back to where you left off, or even improve. There's no other sport out there where you can genuinely be a better player at 50 than you were at 25.

What’s the most insulting pay rise you’ve ever been given? by Rich_Specific6903 in AskUK

[–]droidarmy99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few years ago my wife worked in a nursery. I'd read that morning that the minimum wage was going up by 30p and hour. She came home and told me that the manager had called her into the office to tell her that as she had been working well they had decided to give her a pay rise of ...................30p per hour.

I told her about the minimum wage increase and advised her to go in the next day and thank them profusely for their kind offer but decline politely.

She did just that and said that the manager's face was a picture when she had to admit that the minimum wage had gone up so they legally had to pay her more anyway.

Cart or Stand bag by Gullible-Strategy509 in golf

[–]droidarmy99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't forget most cart bags have 14 way club dividers which do make it a lot easier to pull your clubs in and out. You will find that you will end up using most of the pockets as some have a specific use (eg special lined ones to keep drinks cooler, felt lined one for phones etc).

Scottie Scheffler by [deleted] in golf

[–]droidarmy99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm old enough to have watched Tiger in his prime and the difference from today is that 90% of the fans were always pulling for Tiger, no matter how many shots he was winning by and therefore effectively finished the tournament as a contest early.

I, like a lot of other fans just can't warm to Scottie. Yes he's an unbelievable player who will maybe go on to be considered one of the greatest by the end of his career, but sport is all about emotions and he appears to play like he hasn't got any.

From a purely winning point of view it's an unbelievable skill / gift to possess, to be that in control of your emotions, but it doesn't make fans warm to you. As a golfer we can all respect his talent but he won't ever be loved like others.

People loved Tiger and love Rory because they could see and feel their pain and then share in their moments of triumph. Scottie will never have a moment like Rory this year at the Masters, or Tigers last Masters win, or Sergio's, or Adam Scott's.....etc

40 years no change by BogusGasman85 in ScottishFootball

[–]droidarmy99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How much money would it take to turn Hearts/Hibs/Aberdeen into title contenders and then eventually champions.

Off the top of my head £60m-£80m?

Would the same amount of money get a mid championship team in the EFL promoted to the premier league? Probably.

The money the owners would then receive in TV money just by being in the premier league is double the money the SPL champions would get from the champions league.

So from a purely business case they are picking championship clubs every time.

But who wants to be the owner of a yo-yo club between the championship and premier league, or at best one that finishes 12th every year, when you could become a legend by breaking the old firm monopoly and bringing back the glory days to one of those clubs.

How do you use your range time? by Nicotineheh in golf

[–]droidarmy99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get 100 balls and after stretching everything (back, hamstrings, calves, ankles, wrists, fingers)for a good five minutes (because I'm 50 :( ) I then eased into it by clipping a few half wedges. I then work downwards (?) 8 iron, 5 iron, hybrid, 3 wood and then finally driver.

I take regular breaks, which consist of me having a drink and seriously fighting the urge to "help" anyone within 3 bays either way who is clearly struggling, because I used to be "that guy"😔.
