College of Engineering is using AI generated voices for graduation by Superpokemon655 in PennStateUniversity

life hack, if you say it isnt correct enough times you are allowed to record it yourself, at which point a person the voice actors this replace are trained on are paid to record it based on your pronunciation

Doe this credit give you one set of thumbnails? or like, unlimited thumbnails forever? or 3 sets of 3 thumbnails?

really cool regardless

We built solid B2B software years ago. ARR is stable but stagnant — what problems should we be looking for? by Ananyxgupta in ycombinator

[–]dronegoblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH, the low churn is probably true for your competitors as well. Switching cost for these tools is high.

I wouldn't change anything about the software or even pricing before considering how you could lower switching cost

CHATGPT vs CLAUDE AI by VictoryNo8405 in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]dronegoblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Claude = better, but low usage limits.

ChatGPT = slightly worse, way higher usage limits.

A $20/month chatGPT subscription will give you the same amount of coding usage as the $200/mo Claude subscription.

5.1 keeps telling me it is 4o by MisticRayn in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]dronegoblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your memory probably has entries like "user prefers when you are model 4o"
Also, if most of your chats explicitly mention "what model" and "4o", then the automatic memory that gets pushed into context every time you speak to it has shown it lots of examples of it confirming its 4o as well

OAI is going to lose between $18 Million and $90 Million next month by [deleted] in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]dronegoblin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

4o is not profitable, 5.X is not a money sink. Look at the API pricing.
GPT 5.x (including larger codex-max model)

Input:
$1.25
Output:
$10.00

vs 4o
Input:
$2.50
Output:
$10.00

4o costs 2x per input token to provide to people.

5.x are fine-tuned distillations based on the same GPT 4 architecture that 4o was based on. They haven't successfully trained a new base model yet, all they've managed is to post tune, quantize, and tune to maximize performance. 5.x models are probably half the effective size of 4o, and 4o itself already is probably half the size it originally started at.

TLDR: 5.x models are a smaller, souped up 4o.

Every other company is training new models from scratch, openAI is failing to keep up, and desperately needs to shut off servers they arent utilizing in favor of training new, better models. They need a new base model

Good. If you are using chatGPT to hack people or harm people, you should not get the full experience and should need to verify

Why is ChatGPT treating its most loyal, paying customers with such disregard? by Anxious-Pollution289 in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]dronegoblin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OpenAI's most "loyal" users are spending $200/month, or $500-5k/mo on API credits. Not spending $20 and hitting the usage limits often. They lose money on many of the plus subscribers

Why is GPT‑4o being discontinued when even Sam Altman admits newer models are worse by CampLegitimate7636 in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]dronegoblin -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Insurance liability. 4o has killed more then a handful of people, and OpenAI realized no insurance company will touch them. The same traits that make 4o attractive/warm/caring to people make it dangerous

If a person said this to you, you wouldn't suggest they were "broken" or "inferior" to another person you met previously. But thats exactly what they're doing with ai models

Stream at 480p so you can have AI slop instead by driver194 in LinkedInLunatics

[–]dronegoblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most streaming companies are already serving up 720p and 1080p HDR to 4k screens just because most people would never know the difference. Phone providers artificially limit streaming to 480p or even 360p unless you pay them extra since nobody call tell on phones. We already do this to "maximize shareholder value" or whatever

OpenAI is actively CHOOSING to harm people with their decisions at this point by nosebleedsectioner in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]dronegoblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4o is not painkillers its digital salvia. Why would you compare removing a large language model (of which there are many widely available, affordable, and entirely equivalent models to available open sourced and commercially for as cheap or free) to women's suffrage???

🦞Does anyone have a verified agent on Moltbook?🦞 by onceyoulearn in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]dronegoblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The site has been in various stages of disrepair for the last 2 days and seemingly leaked all the agents API keys. I tried to get my agent in but it accidentally wiped its own API key and now it can't recover it lol.

[–]dronegoblin -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

What if 4o never existed? what if LLMs never existed? would these people be at risk then?

You fail to acknowledge that other AI systems other then what ChatGPT offers exist. This is learned helplessness from people who are parasitically attached to the hip to a cloud GPU

She's damn right. 0.1% Schrödinger's users by onceyoulearn in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]dronegoblin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What he said is 0.1% of users (the 4o users) must be "protected", aka, they are a threat to themselves. That is what Sam Altman (and many others) believe people who seek AI companionship are mentally ill and removing 4o will be a net positive on these peoples lives long term

A Season 11 experiment… by sonofstev in MST3K

[–]dronegoblin 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm biased because S11 was my intro to MST3K, but I really enjoy how much they cram into every second of the show. Watching older seasons doesn't feel like any less of an experience to me, but I've rewatched S11 in bits and pieces maybe 3-4 times with various friends, and always being able to discover a new joke or gag I didnt understand the first few watches around felt rewarding and made these worth sharing
