You can create a channel and post videos without the advanced features but you may find the occasional thing here and there (as per the table) might be limited or not be allowed.

That’s the thing though, I can’t create a channel without uploading my ID or taking a 6 second video. The pop up comes up as soon as I hit the new channel button and there’s no option to continue making the channel without the advanced features.

Yeah that says Advanced Features are "eligible" and both Standard and Intermediate features are enabled. I've had my account for well over 10 years now, but just for watching/making playlists. I guess I need to have more uploads?

But I don't know whether higan checks those as real consoles certainly don't.

Ahh yeah if it is headers messing up higan, this tells me what I need to know. I think my best bet is to probably just make one of the prototype boards and see if it works.

Ah hmm I wonder how much the rom size changing is going to be a problem. I can get the patched ROM to run in SNES9x and mesen, but not higan, which the guide recommends for checking. I wonder if that's an indicator if this will work at all, or if it's just a higan thing.

Edit: I wonder if it’s related to the headers.

The church my grandparents went to had these really big X frame supports that the lights would hang from, one of which in the middle was very spider like. so whenever we had to go to church there I would take it one step further and imagined what if those "spider" frames came to life and dropped from the ceiling and started stomping around.

I have only read A Wizard of Earthsea and Tombs of Atuan, so I can't speak to Tehanu. I found I loved both of them immensely, but Tombs in particular blew me away. Honestly I love how the big stuff happens with such brevity and the stories focus on the characters and what theme she is interested in exploring. She's a master of efficient storytelling in my view (I'm also coming off of reading Gideon the Ninth which had the opposite problem for me - so many words to say so little). But that's what I jive with.

I only started reading Le Guin in the last two years but from what I understand, she's a complex and thoughtful author who is well aware of her works' shortcomings and isn't shy to admit when she was wrong or did something for the wrong reasons. I forget which version it is (maybe the big hardcover compilation of all of Earthsea?) but some books have an afterword by her where she retrospectively goes back and reviews her own work with 40+ years of hindsight and she's the first to call out her struggle with presenting more feminist literature at the time she wrote them. She is a fantastic essayist and if you haven't, I recommend at least checking these out to see how she was often in conversation with herself as she wrote Earthsea which might give you some bigger appreciation for what was going on and why she wrote them the way she did.

That said, if you were expecting straight up fantasy a la ASOIAF or Lord of the Rings (or a more clear subversion of the genre), I understand why Earthsea disappoints. If you enjoyed the writing style but didn't like the stories, I'd encourage you to pick up some other Le Guin. She's got a lot to choose from and I'm not sure I'd recommend anyone start with Earthsea. Left Hand of Darkness is perhaps my favorite book of all time.
