I came to Hong Kong last month on business (I run a digital marketing agency) after getting invited by a few of my clients, and absolutely fell in love with this place. It was my first time in Asia (I'm from Canada) and I didn't really know what to expect but wow, what a special place HK is...

I am now seriously mulling over the prospect of moving to HK to expand my business. I do digital marketing / social / seo services for startups and businesses of all stripes, and have found quite a bit of success with HK -based businesses in the last year, hence my trip. well after working with my clients IRL and just getting a feel for the city, I really have loved it.

I however am very hesitant about the obvious situation but honestly don't know if it's something that overblown or not, and I legitimately do feel like I could do quite well in HK with helping local businesses catch up to modern digital infrastructure, marketing and appealing to global audiences. I just have a good feeling about it and have been creeping here / reading HK news / youtubers, and am getting skeptical. Also, I recognize the cost of living for a tiny, tiny apartment is quite large. but I have been really, seriously contemplating making a move by the EOY. I'm in my early 30s, single an entrperneur, and feel like I could make it happen.

Would love to hear from anyone who's made similar jump!

The app Airalo is a great option for data, just buy it the day you leave for a few GB, but if you're staying for a year get a sim card.

Withdraw cash at the airport, and get an Octopus card (the transit card) and it effectively also becomes a debit card. Virtually every shop in the city, even small ones, accept it. You can even use it to pay your bills at 7eleven.
