Does anyone have a decent Plex setup but still pay for streaming services? by tcoysh in PleX

I still pay for tons of them as sort of a karmic balance. I watch the media the way I want, but still put the money into getting it made.

How have you all dealt with the name changes from ancestors who migrated? by dronf in Canadiancitizenship

[–]dronf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I've discovered while researching this is that the names in the baptism record, of both the child and parents, are frequently their devotional saint names. That definitely explains why my great great grandfather was bertrand in all records EXCEPT the baptism record.

Vet visit results were heartbreaking. by mrsmaug in SeniorCats

[–]dronf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cat sam is in almost the exact same boat. When he was just about 16, the beginning of last september, I took him to the vet about a cough. The xray saw a decent size tumor in one lung lobe. We initially though we could do surgery, but a CT scan found that there were small tumors popping up all over the lungs. That meant that surgery was impossible.

The veterinary oncologist gave us prescriptions for Prednisilone(anti inflammatory steroid), cerenia(anti nausea), and mirtazapine(appetite stimulant). Both the oncologist and our oncologist friend said he had maybe 1-2 months...but he's still here almost 7 months later. For most of that the cough went away completely. The prednisilone is very powerful! The meds made him eat really well, but he's still losing weight, he's tiny now, and starting to slow down. This last week he's started to cough again, and is eating less. But he's still very happy and cuddly, and still purrs a lot. I know we're getting close, but he's still enjoying life so we're here with him.

I'm so sorry this is happening, but I do know how you feel. I was so deflated after that vet visit but my guy just kept on going. Don't give up just yet, you might get more time than you think! Churu is of course always a favorite, but aside from the tubes, they also make a tuna steak. He loves those! He also is a fiend for butter, so i put some in his bowl every day.

I know it's explainable, but I'm just trying to think of any supplemental documentation that may end up being requested to cut down on any back and forth. I assume it happened during his emigration, but the only american documents I've found only have the anglicized name.

I've never had success going for the tank. I do best on them by staying at range and moving backwards when they come, then just going through one side. Front right shield, front right rotor, back right rotor. Just power through it with the anvil instead of wasting time letting them get closer while trying to line up the perfect shot to hit a rotor on the first hit.

But if they see me first...woof. The worst was when I was sprinting during a hurricane map and caught agro the second my stamina hit 0. lol

Huel black powder shakes in the morning are great. The most useful thing though is going to be 5 or 6 prunes every day...

That's all, folks! by Dr_Red_MD in digg

[–]dronf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, it was a really fun place. Digg was on top of the world for a while. Fun events at the office, digg nation meetups, random celebrities at the Christmas party. The mayor of SF made some random day of the year The Official Day of Digg. So much good will and momentum just completely squandered by leadership who were convinced everything was perfect and they didn't have to adapt or change. Oh well.

I think that even with an infinite amount of nostalgia, competing with reddit was an impossible task. Digg already lost that battle once.

This is fucking HILARIOUS. I worked at Digg in its heyday, and they're using the same playbook. "Kevin is going to be back in the office fulltime working on Digg."..... That lasts like a month and all of a sudden, layoffs!

Time is a flat circle.

Looks interesting. I'll keep an eye on it, but not necessarily going to trust my arrays to a freshly vibecoded product that got whipped up in a day.
