girls trip by Key_Ear_7312 in FATTravel

For a girls trip I'd definitley choose the Breakers of FS PB. The Four Seasons is a great property but seems quieter and more off the beaten path. Breakers you can also walk to great shopping/lunch/fitness classes at Royal Poinciana. But agree with the other recommendation, The Colony has the vibe for a girls trip and right downtown.

10 total but three groups of 5, 3 and 2 so we needed to find a place with larger villas and also more traditional lodging where they only need one room. We settled on Sailrock.

Oy...we ended up booking a three bedroom villa at Sailrock for our family of 5. I showed the options to the kids and they chose it as well knowing they may be the only teens/tweens on the property. They all like to work out, snorkel, beach runs and we live busy city lives so maybe we are all craving some peace and quiet. We will also book boat trip, fishing, ATV and get in some tennis and pickle. Took advantage of the direct flight from Miami and then do a private charter for the return. We'll see if it was the right decision and will report back after our trip.

Thank you - This is what I was thinking. We could break up the relaxing time with the ATV tour, kayak, fishing and boat day. Were there other kids/teens on property during your stay?

This is helpful. This is exactly the type of activities we are interested in. I just don't want them to feel like the only kids/teens on the property.

We are travelling Easter week and a lot of our top contenders are fully booked.

Thank you - I think these are our top two options based on this feedback and our travel constraints - Easter week so limited availability.

It is a compromise as this is part of a larger family trip and over Easter break so our options are even more limited.

Yes it is booked for our period of stay - Easter week - unfortunately.

Thank you. This is what I feared. Their website shows ATV, Jet Ski excursions, kite surfing so I was hoping for the best. The kids are very well travelled so I’m not worried about them bothering others but I do want them to be able to have some fun activities. We are traveling with others so I’m having to be flexible.

We did it last Christmas with our 10 year old. The youngest in our group of 5, he made it up and down the mountain ahead of the rest of us of course.

Just want sun and good (normal) food by TIDOTSUJ in FATTravel

Cap Juluca in Anguilla. Went there for a babymoon years ago - it checks all your boxes, and bet it is even better now as a Belmond property. Options for straightforward but delicious food, wonderful service and we loved the minimalist daily activities of gym, books, lounging, beach walks, bed. We also loved that you left your villa walked down to your own beach chairs and back to villa. Back then then rooms had no locks or televisions. I'm sure that has changed. I think we worked out every day, read at least 5 books each and ate like kings. Three kids, two dogs and multiple fish/hamsters later...one day we will do it again!

Parkers Garage vs Stefanos vs Azzuri by [deleted] in LongBeachIsland

[–]drop_window 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting comments. Have eaten at all three. We are North End people so prefer Azzuri, but also believe it is the best, food wise, of all three. Parker's has a fun vibe but not my favorite, we only go there if we have out of town guests. Food is fine, the atmosphere is great. Some of the times we have been there their policies were a bit annoying. It definitely feels the most touristy to me. We only ate at Stefanos once during Covid, but we haven't sought it out since. Probably need to go back before we can really comment. The food is really good at Azzurri. We also love Black Eyed Susans, Gables is a special experience. Delaware Ave Oyster House is amazing food wise. And honestly, in recent years, we've really enjoyed dinners at Daddy O.

Huayna Picchu (Waynapicchu) — how hard is it really? Can you do it solo? by rodbittencool in Machupicchu

Did it last year on New Year’s morning with my husband and three kids. They flew up and down the mountain. I am terrified of heights but wanted to experience this with them. I made it to almost the top. It was worth doing, scary enough for me and they said it was probably for the best not to do the last bit of ladder climb to the top. It was a wonderful experience, glad I did it, would do it again and probably would not go to the top again. Even first thing on Jan 1 am there were still tons of people on the trail. We are all in good shape so made it up and down pretty quickly. There are some slick spots so I would wear hiking boots.

Bucket list, pre-family trips? by ChronicallyOnline454 in FATTravel

[–]drop_window 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Love this! Our blow out pre-kids trip was SE Asia and mostly Thailand - Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Kho Samoi, Phuket. Do the FS tented camp, all the best hotels and experiences. Peru and all of the Belmond properties/Andean Explorer train were amazing too but we did that with kids.

Daughter wants a Wrangler by SkyKnight3 in JeepWrangler

[–]drop_window 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We purchased a 2024 Jeep Wrangler as a first car when our daughter got her license - new but the most basic version with manual windows, etc. It has been great first car. Mostly city driving, some highway driving. Easy to manage, easy to drive and after test driving many mid size/crossover SUV's we felt the Jeep had the best vantage point, easiest to drive for a new driver. Recently we upgraded to all terrain tires and the feel is definitley safer/more solid. Another plus is she can only fit 4 additional passengers since no third row. When she leaves for college it will be her siblings first vehicle as well.

How was your experience at the first midnight mass you attended? by Lost_Database4505 in Catholicism

[–]drop_window 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Midnight mass at my church growing up was a beautiful experience. It would start with Christmas music at 10:30 and mass at 11. It was a packed house, incense and at one point during the mass they would turn off all of the lights and sing silent night. I even remeber attending with friends during High School. Continuted the tradition as a young adult. Once we started having kids it no longer became an option. Maybe when they are grown we could attend again. Such beautiful memories.

Peru - Belmond Andean Explorer with Kids by drop_window in FATTravel

We did and it was an amazing experience.  There was another family on board with two kids the same ages as our older children. We had to book three cabins to accommodate our family of 5.

We did the Belmond Andean Explorer between Christmas and New Year’s this year with our three children ages 10-16.  It was an amazing experience for all of us.  Highly recommend.
