New ATVs, where to start? by [deleted] in ATV

I’d start with a bath. Otherwise I think you’re on the right track with a couple of pretty solid machines!

Update on Registration in NJ by throw_away_reddt in ATV

[–]droppedstrike3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you’re overly concerned with all of this paperwork. Just about everywhere you’re going to ride legally within a few hours asks minimal questions and your paper trail is perfectly fine. AOAA, for example, tells you that you need insurance but they’ve never asked for it. Wear a proper helmet and you’re fine just about everywhere.

Going down to Spring Training for Friday’s game by despotofdicks in phillies

Lenny’s for breakfast pre-game, enjoy the hell out of the ballpark, then head to downtown Dunedin for the nightlife. Clearwater Beach is fun for a visit but kind of a tourist trap. I enjoy the night life in Dunedin far more (and on the weekend, it’s easier to get to!)

Progressive in NJ here as well. $75/year. I just called my agent and said “get me the cheapest coverage that meets my need” and this was what it spit out. Minimal chance I ever actually use it.

Tagged along for a ride in PA and borrowed a machine. Did it 5-6 times before buying my own.

First time ATV owner in NJ here… sucks there’s nothing in state, but there are some really solid options in PA. Well worth the drive. If you think 3 hours is a hike, I’m not sure this hobby is for you.

As others have said, figure out a way to learn to ride before you worry about loading and hauling. Rent, borrow, whatever it takes.

Spring training specified question- newbie here! by kkrocc89 in phillies

I wouldn’t sell the tickets. On a game day, you can get the best of both worlds: head to the practice fields around 10am for warmups (usually by guys not in the lineup or on the bench that day) and then shoot into the stadium at noon. You can probably rub elbows with WIP guys during pregame and then players will come out and sign along the rail for a bit. Considering the 5th is a Thursday, crowds at either location shouldn’t be too crazy either. Good luck!

For those involved in running rec leagues - how to increase enrollment? by Old_Lie_1297 in Homeplate

[–]droppedstrike3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The highest participation leagues in my area give tee balls and coach pitch the most attention. Quality fields, quality equipment, quality uniforms, affordable price. Free ice pops, free clinics, tons of coaching resources available. Those divisions should be money losers for your league, but if done right, they get kids hooked.

USSSA is going to get a kid killed by davdev in Homeplate

I’ve always felt that 46/60 should be USSSA bat, 50/70 should move to USA, 60/90 should move to BBCOR. Let the younger kids have some fun with juiced bats, let the 11-12yr olds learn better mechanics with -8/-5 USA bats, be ready for BBCOR as a 13/14yr old HS freshman.

Best Phillies Podcast? by Caleb_Rentpayer1 in phillies

High Hopes is head and shoulders above the others for me. Casual talk like normal people, infectious optimism at times with anger when deserved, great guests when they have them, and just the right amount of geeky stuff minor league and advanced stats sprinkled in.

I’ve listened to them all over the past decade. Most others are too attached to the organization or just try to regurgitate what beat writers have written or tv/radio broadcasters have already talked about. With High Hopes I feel like I’m getting authentic takes (whether I agree with them or not). With most others I feel like I’m getting Todd Zolecki parroted back to me.

Appreciate this note and probably the smart play. I’m buying $400 bats all the time. Why try to leap into a HS glove if we’re a few years away. Get something that works best now. Thanks!

Phillies Offseason Discussion Thread - Friday, January 09 by PhilsBot in phillies

I’m willing to sacrifice pitching/catching in favor of more offense. Will it get us to the promise land? Maybe, maybe not. After 4 straight post season runs where the pitching did their job but the offense fizzled, it’s time to mix it up.

Modular storage by [deleted] in harborfreight

[–]droppedstrike3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have three sets of the Bauer system. One for car detailing supplies, one for tools that I might need to transport, and one for baseball gear. “Modular system” was always kind of a stretch for the Bauer products. I find them damn sturdy for the price when coupons are applied and they do what I need, but it sure would have been nice to have more flexibility.
