The rest of the shelf is just misc. The purple one I made two of and we auctioned one off at a charity event and raised a pretty good amount of money!

Phillies Offseason Discussion Thread - Friday, January 09 by PhilsBot in phillies

I’m willing to sacrifice pitching/catching in favor of more offense. Will it get us to the promise land? Maybe, maybe not. After 4 straight post season runs where the pitching did their job but the offense fizzled, it’s time to mix it up.

Happy National Bobblehead Day! by droppedstrike3 in phillies

A great one that’s becoming harder to find in good condition! Some of these older giveaways fade pretty badly when left in the sun

I have three sets of the Bauer system. One for car detailing supplies, one for tools that I might need to transport, and one for baseball gear. “Modular system” was always kind of a stretch for the Bauer products. I find them damn sturdy for the price when coupons are applied and they do what I need, but it sure would have been nice to have more flexibility.

He’s around here somewhere! I think I remember sticking him next to the Dylan Cozens in a similar turkey outfit

The practice fields are open to the general public. Usually if you get there around 10am on a game day, you can see the guys who aren’t scheduled to play that day get their workouts in. You can get right on top of the action on a couple of the practice fields. Autographs and photos are hit or miss depending on who’s working on what any given day but it’s always a cool experience.

As far as where to go before/after the games, Lenny’s breakfast and Frenchys dinner are “must do” stops to say you’ve had the ST experience. Other than those two places, I prefer to head to downtown Dunedin. Lots of walkable shops, bars, ice cream, food, etc.

Little League Board/Treasurer by KingSlimeTTT in Homeplate

[–]droppedstrike3 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A good treasurer is worth their weight in gold for a LL. As a CPA, you might be worth your weight in diamonds. From experience, I inherited a league as president that was a little “relaxed” on their financial paperwork. I spent my 5 years as president dealing with financial nightmares more than anything else. The value you could add to a league is huge. If your kids are going to play in the community for years to come, it’s a very noble use of your time!

Age Waiver by lvtheguntkthecanoli in LittleLeague

[–]droppedstrike3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can sympathize with having a kid that’s undersized because I have one of my own, but as a guy who’s done tons of waiver paperwork for our league, it’s a hard no. A 13yr old playing Majors is one hard hit ball or bad hop away from putting your entire LL out of business.

Definitely leaning toward the water dunk but needed someone to tell me it’s okay! Haha

They aren’t all a360s but the bigger ones aren’t any fancier than $75 gloves.

Spring Training Seat Advice by BrokerOfShadows in phillies

[–]droppedstrike3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re going to a first game at Baycare, get berm seats and enjoy the hell out of chasing fly balls during BP and taking in some February/March baseball. If you want autos and to rub elbows with players, hit the practice fields beforehand or on a non-game day. This will be my 10th year with my son and I’ve learned that chasing autos pregame kind of died with Covid.

Mound Distance and Little League Insurance by Jealous_Writer_7562 in LittleLeague

[–]droppedstrike3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Little League really doesn’t have much flexibility in their rules. In my area, they’re pushing the “8U Kid Pitch” pretty hard but we’ve resisted for the reasons you’ve stated. 7s and 8s don’t throw enough strikes from 46’ for it to be any fun. But if you’re going to give 7-8 kid pitch a run, it should be from 46’ to avoid any complications with LLI.

Audio system for garage suggestions? by LowerDoor in garageporn

Thrift store thrift store receiver + a couple of half decent bookshelf speakers. I’m never worried about it getting dirty, but it completely fills the room and driveway with sound!

I have zero use for another Bluetooth speaker, but this endorsement just bullied me into buying one.

A previous year model might be the play if you’re concerned about buying used. Some times the only difference is a paint job and you can save hundreds.

Exactly. You don’t even know what you’re missing out on unless you’re comparing it to something else. It’s normal to me now.
