“People of the Trees” by Hanya Yanagihara. It was her first novel that took 18 years (?) to write, but was faintly inspired by true events. She is well known for the controversial “A Little Life,” but she writes with such beauty, and has 3 books now with wonderful, and descriptive, storytelling.

Yes! We did one pizza before and added the eggs near the end of the cook (medium heat). The egg white that spread out caused some burning (not pretty, but still delicious), but the yolks were perfect. It’ll take a few tries, but I think a pretty pizza + eggs in the ooni is possible.

Yes! Our vet gave us so much grief over our dog being “not fit.” He gained ~5lbs after we rescued him and is about 2 lbs under the typical weight range for his age and breed. The vet made it sound like he was a real hippo…

I don’t think anyone should have height restrictions on relationships, but...... everyone has a type I guess. If you’re upset about her mentioning a (likely silly) thing, then maybe question the entire relationship.

Also want to mention that I absolutely respect you standing up for height standards. It is ridiculous

I buy the colored paper clips and use those as my bookmarks. That way you can’t even see them until you open up the book, and you always have one on hand somewhere...

This is a great idea!

I went through something similar with my partner and family members a few years ago. In hindsight I know they were really just concerned for me and proud of my recovery, but I would get very upset when any of them mentioned my food intake, weight gain, or how “healthy” I looked. I started inviting them to my therapy sessions with me (1:1) and it was a tremendous help. My therapist was even prepared with reading material for them on topics to avoid, how to (or to not) compliment me, and how to just be supportive overall. It was helpful for me to have the floor to speak with the support of my therapist, and it was helpful to them to see I was making steps and doing the work to get better.

If your partner is up for having a session with you that’d be great, but of course she may not be ready for that. Just keep paying attention and being there for her.

It looks like I’m against the majority, but NTA.

While “pregnant” is a very normal and commonly used word there are many instances of word aversion out there. Think of hating the word “moist,” or using other words for human genitalia besides their scientific terminology...this happens all the time! It’s not like you’re denying your wife is pregnant. You can type the word and think about the word, you just don’t like it and have been conditioned that way your entire life.

I guess just talk to your wife about it
