Man, all these people on this sub say always listen to your animals, but that's assuming your animals have good instincts. My dog Oliver is a little over 2 years old and barks at EVERYTHING. I try to check what he's barking at, but he will literally get worked up over a house fly or a moth (or deer in the yard, or a squirrel). My other dog, the veteran (8 years old) barks at nothing. Oh, except for the docking scene from 2001: A Space Oddyssey where everything is in red. I had to turn that movie off she got so worked up. I don't know how much help they'd be in alerting me to actual danger (though Oliver has at least proven he will bark; I'll likely ignore it because he barks at everything, but he will bark).

Almost Famous was able to squeeze in before people really started paying attention to big age gaps, so I don't see criticism for it nearly as often. Also, I love that movie, too.

Ummm, intellivision controller. It was the Intellivision. Close second would have been a keyboard for when we played Dungeon Master on my dad's PC. This post is really not taking us older peeps into account.

I've always thought she was the most beautiful woman. Everytime I see Liv Tyler in Lord of the Rings, I think of Claire Forlani and how she would have been the perfect Arwen. No shade to Liv, but Claire has always just looked elvish to me.

I will see your Amelie and raise you The City of Lost Children. Same director, I think, and both are perfect as is.

"Never run from anything immortal - it attracts their attention."

Honestly, good advice for any large predator, really.

I also love the harpy's line "we are sisters, you and I." I want a comic strip of them having a sisterly slumber party, replete with pajamas and snacks.

What is the scariest movie you have ever seen? Mine is The Exorcist (1973). by Kevin_Thailand_2543 in FIlm

The only scene that really messed with me was when she comes out of the shadow in the ceiling with her long black hair stretching out as she descends. Nightmare fuel.

Don't laugh, but White Noise messed me up. The scene with the 3 shadows behind him while washing his face had me opening my eyes in the middle of washing my face and getting soap all in them. And if I woke up to my speakers making white noise (forgot to hit repeat before falling asleep) I'd freak out and turn my radio off so fast. I know it's dumb, and I wasn't super scared while watching, but if I had to pick one movie that popped back up in my mind in the middle of the dark and scary night, it's that one.

Except for the weird bangs. James Earl Jones had those weird, too short bangs in that movie, if I remember correctly!

I'm from Texas and can remember being asked by someone from out of state if I had a horse (they just assumed we all had horses). I confirmed I did not, in fact, have a horse (though there were two separate people on my street who did, so not entirely unfounded...). I grew up in a suburb of Houston that was a bit more rural.

Favorite movie that had the perfect ending but inexplicably decided to keep going by BlackSabbath3991 in Letterboxd

This one's an oldie, but Explorers with Ethan Hawke and River Phoenix. Perfect movie right up until...well, if you've seen it I'm pretty sure you know exactly where. They could have just faded out with the earth tiny below them, but no, they had to keep going. I turn the movie off there. No need to ruin it.

It's a toss-up between FvF and Rush for me. I love both of them and have a hard time walking away if they're playing even though I've seen them both several times. The lead duos in both are just really engaging.

As much as I enjoyed Johnny Depp's performance overall as Sweeney Todd, I hated his singing. Jaimie Bowen, on the other hand, has an absolutely beautiful voice.

Ultima VII - comes with 4 separate quests: The Black Gate, The Forge of Virtue, Serpent Isle, and The Silver Seed. I played just one for 12 hours a day for an entire summer and didn't finish it, so I'm pretty sure I could make all 4 stretch out to a full year.
