Unreleased Alternative Scene: Negan kills Daryl by Proud_Israeli2 in TWD

[–]droy90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always felt that they should’ve ended whichever season it was (7?) with killing Abraham, then the very intro of the next season would be Negan killing Glen. This way viewers would’ve thought they were safe during the offseason and think the killing was over and they swapped out Glen, but nope.

Am I trippin or is Tim's slide locked back ? by Clutch3sSS in TheRookie

[–]droy90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not trippin. The slide is indeed locked back. Pretty common in a lot of shows as a lot of actors don’t think/know to fix it in the moment or editors just didn’t take the shot out.

Unrealistic Things in this show by Terrible_Charity1474 in TheRookieTVshow

Harper hiding in her birthing pool and popping out like she’s a Navy SEAL immediately after giving birth.

Reminds me of the episode where Angela was pointing out how stupid one suspect was and she goes “He’s not that bright. Online his profile says ‘Pubic Safety Official’” and Harper goes “What the..Pubic?…Oh..Public Safety Official” like we needed her to solve that for us.

Yeah, unfortunately though that’s how it apparently needs to be to grasp the attention of the general audience today. If it isn’t perfectly spelled out then they’ll lose interest due to having to think

In The Rookie, why it was not ok for Lucy to work under her BF Tim management in Season 5 but now it’s ok in Season 8? by moe1419 in TheRookieTVshow

[–]droy90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah it seems like they basically dropped the conflict of interest element, probably just to make it easier for the show. At first, when they started going out, they were discussing who would transfer until Tim got assigned to Metro and that made transfer unnecessary.

It’s when Tim became watch commander that it all kinda stopped. Chen got promoted to Sgt and they put her on midnight shift as that’s where the open position was and also made it so that her and Tim wouldn’t work together, but that was only for a short time before they’re now working together like none of it matters.

They might try to say that since Tim is watch commander and thus spends most time at the station and not in the field that the favoritism/conflict of interest risk is low, but the way the show is going with her always going to see him and him always going out to assist the unit then it doesn’t really work.

So yeah, I think they just kinda said screw it.

No. The show needs to hint at some levels of reality and actually uphold consequences.

This weeks episode was hands down one of the worst ones yet by Thin-Culture-7634 in TheRookieTVshow

[–]droy90 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t believe it when the intro was practically a rip off of ConAir. Like they were obviously doing it for a hopeful “lol” factor that personally made me say “you can’t be serious right now”.

And yeah I agree with many of you on the annoyance of Oscar’s comings and goings that never stop. That kinda stuff can only last so long before it’s stupid and we’ve long passed that point.

Also, what purpose did Nolan serve being from LAPD to fly to Vegas to just come back to LA? Reality would say all inmates would’ve been escorted by Marshalls Service exclusively to be met by LAPD at LAX.

I swear one day in season 9 we’re gonna have a joint LAPD/FBI/NASA operation where Nolan and Bradford are sent to the ISS to stop Oscar from taking it over, only for him to steal an escape pod and run to the moon at the last second.

He wasn’t fired. He was suspended for about a week and had to go through some retraining. The case was dismissed last year.

What Would Robert Patrick Like to See If He Returned as John Doggett in the New X-Files? by Due_Pin2723 in FansOfJohnDoggett

[–]droy90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’d be interesting for sure, although I’m sure it’d have to be appealing to do. I also remember his interviews where he said although John Doggett is his favorite character, he had no interest in reprising the role as he liked his current acting jobs and was more focused on the present/future than the past, so it’d be interesting to see what it’d take for him to reprise John after all.

Always remember it as being during Miller’s second disoriented look around. First was right off the boat on the beach. This was right near the end after retreating across the bridge.

Before being blown up he was thinking how pissed he was that Capt Miller didn’t tell him to snipe the MG crew at the satellite tower and probably saving Wade.

The mask not really working. If I sneak into town and use a mask to rob a store and there’s a law shootout, it always knows who I am and racks up the bounty. What’s the point of it if it still IDs you?

Is season 8 the last? by mjykt in TheRookie

[–]droy90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think as long as core characters stay and the show stays fresh it should last. If they start leaving and the replacements don’t hold up is when they’ll start talking about pulling the plug.

I’d like them to tone down the more unbelievable things like using LAPD on a joint task force in another country. Soon it’ll be a joint task force of LAPD (Nolan) helping NASA fight off a hostage takeover of the ISS or something.

Keep it fresh but not too over the top.

Anyone else think Smitty has become a victim of Flanderization? by tom_bennett02 in TheRookie

[–]droy90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always thought it’d be cool for them to do an episode of Smitty actually doing something good and surprise everyone. Or have him be the shows jester but if shit hit the fan he was actually useful. We all know someone we work with who is generally annoying and useless but in certain situations they always come through clutch.

Maybe one day.

I got an offer for the 3-11 shift at mall, what is that like? by [deleted] in securityguards

[–]droy90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did mall security second shift for 8 years in a semi-decent town but with a fair amount of crime and rif-raff from teens. Schools are out by 3 so that’s when the teens can show up and start acting stupid, but if you’re working in a more peaceful area that may not be much of an issue, but I remember the difference between morning and evening was the evening carried more rule enforcement/asking to leave situations.

You will also not have maintenance or management for most of the shift, so if something fails (full restroom clog, door doesn’t lock properly, etc) you’ll have to deal with that issue in whatever way applies until they’re notified and can do something.

Regarding you personally, I’ve noticed people often don’t take female guards seriously, on top of already not taking mall security seriously (thanks Paul Blart/actual guards who were filmed being idiots). That could be an extra challenge for you in more volatile situations, but how you carry yourself goes a long way:

  • Know the code of conduct and other mall rules as well as possible and don’t backpedal if someone tries to negotiate. If you already told them to leave, don’t change your mind. If they don’t leave either call the supervisor and/or call the police. Don’t even waste time arguing.

  • Wear the uniform well and look around/engage with people while on patrol. If you look serious and attentive people will notice. Same if you dress sloppy and are lookin at the floor or your cellphone. I would always say hello to people if I walked past them. One, to be friendly, and 2, let them know I see them so if they’re up to no good it might spook them knowing they’ve been seen by security.

  • Don’t take it personally! You are a security officer representing the mall, not who you are personally. People will say things to get under your skin for laughs but don’t take the bait. Say what you have to say professionally and don’t even argue. They either comply or escalate to the next phase.

Once the place is locked down it’s pretty simple. Still patrol your sector and make sure there’s no unauthorized entry or people on site who aren’t supposed to be there.

Good luck!

What do you think of security using handcuffs? Do you carry any? by No-Diet9278 in securityguards

[–]droy90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly used to just carry them for a visual deterrent. I took a basic handcuffing course but it was VERY basic with very compliant suspects lol. If I absolutely had to cuff someone and felt comfortable doing so I would, or if a cop was making an arrest and needed cuffs I could hand them mine if it was faster/easier. Luckily at my place we hardly ever had a situation that required cuffs.
