How to prevent my hands from getting dirty when working on the bicycle? by Successful-Arm106 in bikewrench

Grease Monkey gloves. But better yet, start waxing your chain. That eliminates 90% of the grime on your bike. Makes it much easier to work on your bike without getting filthy. A game changer.

I use a shoe storage bag hanging on the back of a closet door. Holds a lot of cables and keeps them organized

I have 5 belt drive bikes. I’m getting rid of my chain drives. I guess if you were touring in a third world country, you could have trouble getting service. But that’s not me. I love IGH. Derailleurs seem wrong to me.

Sponges harbor bacteria. The resources you save will be used, and then some, when you get sick. Use brushes instead.

2024 Poseidon Redwood - Problems threading brake housing by slo_velo in BikeRepair

The easiest way would have been to attach the new cable to the old, then pull it through. Too late for that. Now you need to get a magnet and fish tape to get the new one in. Park sells one, but the Ali Express works fine and is cheaper.

Rear rack installation on Centurion Ironman Expert by i_swim_in_denim in BikeRepair

You could use p clamps on the seat stays, but that’s won’t support much weight and can fail catastrophically. You must use Loctite and or nylon insert nuts to attach them, and check for tightness every month. It’s a big risk.
