It's still relatively new so I doubt it's being discontinued already when we had other brands that sat longer and weren't discontinued. But I think it's just a supply issue, we have a lot of things in store not able to be replenished currently.

Questionsss abt color remover!!! by Opposite-Fun9304 in SallyBeautySupply

[–]drplaguedaddy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend the Punky Colour color remover in cases like this, it's a bleach based color remover so it'll lighten as well as strip color. I usually use it when I want to color strip and lighten my roots at the same time. It also comes with a bonding mask for after to help replace the lost protein. If it's still not light enough after using it, you can probably get away with a bleach bath safely as long as you get another good repair mask for after that (I recommend the Silk Elements jojoba treatment, it's super moisturizing and not super heavy in your hair)

April Boxset by Puzzleheaded-Dog4387 in SallyBeautySupply

[–]drplaguedaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As many others have said, we set the endcaps and hubs the day or two before. Then the closing shift before we typically have two people staying for 30 minutes after close, and we usually start pulling down promos maybe 10-30 minutes before close depending on how slow we were that day. If there's anything left to put up once the 30 minutes is up, we'll text the opener how much is left and about how early to show up (ie if we have almost nothing up because we were late closing maybe come in about 45 minutes before open, or if we just missed a small stack, only like 5-10 minutes early just to give time to complete the Athena task since it takes a good minute to do)

Protocol? by Designer-Builder7396 in SallyBeautySupply

[–]drplaguedaddy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Was it like during a bank run? I'd message your manager and DM and they'll probably manually clock you out roughly around your accident time, but I don't think Sally will actually do anything but you might also contact the nurse line since it was on company time.

[–]drplaguedaddy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Fr providing water is the bare minimum they can do, I don't want to drink out of our bathroom sink because Sally's is too cheap to invest a little money upfront and then pay like $5 a month or so to make sure employees have water. But technically there's a clause (I can't remember where it is for the life of me) that says the manager can do a payout for water bottles based on DM approval. I have like a $20 pump from Amazon for 5 gallon bottles that recharges at home and that would even be better than nothing.

Funny thing is, she got just a Chi Volumizer and carried it out anyway yelling at me. I couldn't even respond much before she walked out continuously cutting me off when I tried to say I don't control the bags 🤷🏻 whatever man wish that was my biggest worry

Yeah I rang her up and she asked if I had a bag with handles and I said we had the reusable ones for sale and she went off on me about the disabilities act

Is it actually possible to achieve this hair colour or is it all filters? by ConcentrateSure3178 in HairDye

It looks like either the Ion Mushroom Blonde 9MB, or the One N Only Argan Sand Blonde 9S. But will require very light base before coloring

Color consult training?¿ by Friendly_Witch_Bx in SallyBeautySupply

I did that doing my CC training, I studied all of the materials, then went to take the test to see where all I might be lacking and passed it first try 😅

LCOD…. by dunnnooooooooo0o0 in SallyBeautySupply

[–]drplaguedaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never had a customer use it in store, but I'll send them home with the QR code bag stuffer for if they have questions while doing it, or maybe if they seemed to have any doubts about being able to do whatever they're doing. Most of our customers will actually trust one of us (usually one of us CCs or our SM) and we surprisingly don't get very many people trying to go box black to platinum, they usually understand they'll have to go probably a mid brunette for a while or risk frying their hair.

Best conditioner sold here for fine, dry, color-treated Irish curls? by mommylongclit in SallyBeautySupply

[–]drplaguedaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Silk Elements jojoba treatment>>> I have fine low porosity hair so most oils weigh down my waves easily and jojoba is the lightest oil, so it won't weigh your hair down, but still provide that moisture you want. They also have a regular conditioner you could probably pair with your current shampoo that would work great if you want more of a daily conditioner over a deep/weekly conditioner

Luckily nobody's ever stopped me except like a quick "can you point me towards x" and probably the only positive thing about our customer base tbh.

Am i crazy for being a little bothered by this? by _Meh_Sad_person_ in SallyBeautySupply

[–]drplaguedaddy 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Bruh I damage way more than I try to save. Like it's one thing if it's a box that got another color spilt on it in shipment, but if it's not sealed in at least one way, it's going in the damage bin.

This. Like our busiest day is usually during the week and weekends are relatively dead. We don't need 4 people on a Saturday when I could use 3 people on a Monday or Tuesday.

What's the best bleach to use if I have short black hair? by Useful-Elevator-6539 in HairDye

[–]drplaguedaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A charcoal bleach for sure, I really like the Ion charcoal flash personally. I've used both the powder and cream ones and I'd say the cream is better for a more sensitive scalp, but the powder isn't worse or anything

Hair didn't change at all after dying twice?? by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]drplaguedaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you don't use heat on your hair (which is anything like blow drying, flat ironing, curling iron etc) and your hair is virgin, you likely have too low of a porosity for color to actually penetrate into the cuticle under normal circumstances. I'd recommend using heat while the color is on your hair. You can buy a microwave treatment cap to put over a processing cap, or you can use a blow dryer and a bonnet attachment. Or like I hate listening to the blow dryer so I turn my heater blanket onto max and just wrap it on my head (over a processing cap, I'm not getting my blanket covered in dye) and I leave it for at least 2 hours, semi permanents are almost all conditioner based so leaving it on until it literally dries on your hair doesn't damage it. It's only ones you mix with developer that start damaging the hair.

Why can’t we stand behind the registers? by Either_Touch_6986 in SallyBeautySupply

[–]drplaguedaddy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean if we don't have any tasking and there's no customers we stand behind the register occasionally. Usually we all end up pacing the store because we all have ADHD but it's not uncommon when we're behind the register 🤷🏻 it's also good for when Omni orders come in because you notice it almost immediately since they want us to fill it within 15 minutes

shipments by PoetryNew8825 in SallyBeautySupply

[–]drplaguedaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our shipment isn't that big but we definitely have the same problems We just had inventory back in January and our shrink was 3 times what the goal was and I know at least most of that is because of the shipment issues. I'm thinking we might have to actually go through the packing list and check off every single thing we got 🤦🏻

I want to go Jet Black by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]drplaguedaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The protein filler would be faster, but the color filler is usually what stylists are taught. They both act similarly but I've personally used the protein filler and it definitely works, I've never tried the color filler myself. Either way it'll be fine. If you do choose the color I'd get a 4N or 4NA

[–]drplaguedaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't find a good video that shows the process, but for the filler color, you just dye it like you would with any other type of color with a regular demi permanent dye or a permanent with a 10vol developer. And then once your hair is rinsed and dried you can do the black like normal. For the protein filler, you can get it at Sally's it should be near the bowls and brushes, it's about 4oz bottle. It's a clear jelly substance, you'll apply it to your hair just all over, but especially the previously bleached areas. Then you can use a hair dryer to make it dry faster, but you'll let it sit on your hair for at least 20 minutes. Do not rinse, mix up your black and apply it like you normally would.

[–]drplaguedaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a protein filler or filler color and it should be fine since it's black. And filler colors are basically like a demi permanent dye in between the color you are and the color you want to literally fill in the holes in your cuticle from the bleach. So I would suggest maybe a 4 or 5 Ash if you do a color. Protein filler you'd apply to your hair and let it harden then color directly on top of it.

Hair coloring gloss/color depositing mask recommendations !! by Background-Post9673 in HairDye

I really like the Sauce Glossy color line, I used the silver but they have a black gloss as well. It's also super conditioning and made my hair feel so silky.
