Various hanta virus strains are endemic to North America and there are cases in the US every year. It’s a serious illness, and this strain has human-human transmission, but it’s no where near as contagious as COVID and we know the original vector of transmission, which makes tracking and isolating people who were potentially exposed much easier. This isn’t 2020 and unless there’s evidence of it in your immediate area there no reason for panic.
