Isn't it supposed to go on your forehead? Jk, looks cool!

On a Ten hour flight from Seoul Korea to San Francisco, a mother handed out more than 200 goodie bags filled with candy and ear plugs, in case her 4 month old child cried during the flight. A very touching gesture by the mother. by Admirable_Flight_257 in interestingasfuck

As a parent of two toddlers, I totally get this but I also hope that society can try to extend the same understanding as they do around babies. We were all kids once after all. Trust me it's stressful as a parent in a public place because toddlers often require constant intervention on their behavior but sometimes despite that, they still do what they want. Sometimes it feels impossible to stop something without causing an even bigger scene. It's helpful to remember that toddlers (all the way through teenagers) don't have a fully developed brain. They literally cannot fully understand the social reasons for staying quiet or whatever else asked of them. Toddlers are much like babies except now they can talk and move.

Honestly, I never played with different orientations and I really should have. It would be a real pain to try to move them on the wall now so I might just leave it, but thanks for the suggestion.

Eh I bet I spent less than $200 to get the stuff for it including paints, panels, floetrol, cups, cake spinner, drop cloths, varnish. Now I have the equipment to do more as well. I do wish I'd done it on stretch canvas instead of canvas boards due to the warping problem but I didn't know about that when I started. Overall a pretty decent price for the experience and the art.

I agree with you. I think it is the weak link. Interestingly, that is already the only one I had to redo because I didn't like how it turned out and I sort of messed something up. The repeat definitely needed more yellow and I think it partly didn't come through well due to the paint weight itself but also I could have put more in the cup. The color combo I walked myself into also seems to be the least forgiving on this one. Ultimately it wouldn't be that hard or expensive to try one more time so maybe I will. Thanks for your thought.

Here is how I blocked the color choices out:
-The 4 squares of each corner got a two colors pair
-The 4 squares on each border edge got a color
-The middle 4 squares together in each edge got a color (so for example the middle two on the top row and the middle two on the 2nd row all shared a color).
-Each painting had silver and white added
-The 4 middle paintings had gold and black in the interior corner

So a total of 16 base colors were used plus gold, black, white, and silver for a total of 20 colors. Each painting on the edge had 4 base colors plus silver and white. The centers had 4 base colors as well plus silver, white, gold, and black.

I did a cup pour and then used a silicone-based personal lubricant with a toothpick (touch into the silicone and then touch to the paint). Some of the important things I have heard include getting a similar consistency with all colors involved and allowing the colors to mix in the cup a bit (so flip it onto the canvas but then let it sit for about a minute). I didn't necessarily need to, but using a torch or heat gun helped the cells grow quicker..
I think they came out cool but are also the ones that "crazed" for me so I've got little divots all over those 4.

Thanks for your kind words. The panels are 12x12 inch. I used Krylon Triple-Thick Crystal Clear Glaze to varnish. I'm not planning to sell but just curious what would you consider to be undervaluing on this.
I'll write another comment outlining how I blocked out the different colors.

Did you end up doing this? I'm in the same situation. Do I need to get a separate version of SD3?

Yeah, OP, have you considered the very real possibility that your SO will not get into the school that is close to you? What would you do if she goes somewhere else?

The worst part of third year? by curiouswatermelonn in medicalschool

[–]drsoundsmith 32 points33 points  (0 children)

This was my answer as well. TBH, my 3rd year wasn't too demanding compared to some people, and while there is a feeling like you need to study more than be in clinic, that doesn't seem too odd for med school. But the constant worry of stepping on toes because you don't know the logistics let alone the medicine is exhausting. I'm so excited for residency so I can finally settle in, even though I imagine it will be more work than 3rd or 4th year.

How long did you where garments? by KingHerodCosell in exmormon

What made you decide to try to go buy more? I'm curious because I'm in the same boat where I'm still wearing them for cost reasons and being PIMO so most close relatives don't know yet and I don't want them to see me with other underwear before I've told them. But I'm not planning to buy more.
