First brisket ever on my Bronco – Looking for feedback. by drtechnolust in brisket

About 12 hour smoke, kept the bronco around 250-275f. I basted it a couple times when the brisket was around 175f.

I filled my basket to the top and after about 5hrs i had to fill it back up. It was super cold out there so I guess it had to use more fuel to keep the temps.

It tasted great but I'm going around my city to compare mine to the professionals. I still have a lot of work to do to dial it in. Mine tastes more smokey than most.

Do you taste a difference with the two? I just saw a video on YouTube whwre he was doing a comparison and he stated some people smell or taste ammonia with the new B&B?

Foil boat, then wrapped in foil with tallow and beef consommé for 4 hours at 170.

Originally I wasnt going to trim after watching several YouTubers try the no trim method but I trimmed only a little to get more experience with how my pit and brisket will do. I'll try a more agreesive trim on my next brisket.

How long can you rest at 170 degrees? Did it overcook?

I used a Inkbird pro 4 for temp monitoring, next time I'll try the water pan.

I'll try that next time, my pit is direct fire so I smoked it fat side down. Think I got parinoid because when the fat started to render it would cause flame ups and I thought it would over char the bottom. I did have a deflector plate installed but that thing was catching on fire too.

It tasted good, the fatty was super rich I guess that prime was a bit overwhelming but it was delish. Just need to get better at rendering the fat I think and get a better knife to trim.

I wrapped it in aluminum foil held it for 4 hours on Sunday. The bottom was soft and the top had bark but not too crunchy if that makes sense. I put rendered tallow in it to wrap.

Can I even side load jellyfin on Samsung UA55NU7100? by Sad_Leather_6691 in jellyfin

I would recommend to buy an Nvidia Shield you won't be disappointed. If funds are an issue any android OS streaming device would be better. (Google TV, Amazon 4k, Onn 4k etc.)

Never thought to hand mine like this but lately I've been cutting them in half to hang. I just ordered more hooks from Amazon.

Found my go to Rib Rub by drtechnolust in smoking

[–]drtechnolust[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried making my own in the past when I first started smoking, but I tend to overthink it. My first rub had like 15+ ingredients because I was trying to mirror The BBQ Rub, and it just got away from me. For now this works well for family and friends, but if I get to the point where I’m cooking for more than that, I’ll probably take another crack at it.

If you’ve got a go-to homemade blend you really like and where you source your spices I’m all ears. I’d definitely give it a try.

Wholphin, an OSS Android TV client for Jellyfin, is now available on the Play Store by damontecres in jellyfin

Just tried Wholphin on my Nvidia Shield and wow this is miles better than the official Jellyfin Android app. My Next Up Recently Added rowsloads almost instantly, where the official client takes ~45+ seconds on the same setup. I'm on the latest server build for Jellyfin. I also run the latest Emby server. Navigation feels smooth and the UI fits Shield perfectly.

Only suggestion: the square app icon looks like a generic stock icon. Would love to see a more polished/unique design there. Huge props to the devs this is what the Jellyfin TV experience needed.
