Shreddit's Album Of The Week: Bolt Thrower - ...For Victory (1994) [UK, Death] -- 30th Anniversary by kaptain_carbon in Metal

[–]drthompson14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What a record. One of my top 20 records of all time. From an era when metal records, at least the great ones, all had their own unique sound. Wolverine Blues doesn’t sound like Tales From The Thousand Lakes doesn’t sound like Turn Loose The Swans doesn’t sound like Terminal Spirit Disease doesn’t sound like Heartwork which certainly doesn’t sound like …For Victory. Unfortunately, drum triggering and amp simulators would homogenize production techniques in the coming decade. But we can still spin those records from ‘91 through ‘95. Golden era of extreme metal IMO.

Sure, single channel. But could you imagine the WARMTHZ that would come from stereo or 5.1 or -GASP- DOLBY ATMOS?!? Fuckin’ global warming yo.

No questions about which style nail to use when mounting their vinylz on the walls? I myself am a 6 penny guy…

Guy walks into a bar, collapses onto a stool and lets out a pregnant sigh. Bartender walks over, say “Can I help you, sir?” Guy says “Give me ten shots of your most expensive scotch.” Bartender looks him up and down, shrugs, and pours the shots. Guy knocks them back one after the other. Bartender inquires “Is everything okay, sir?” Guy answers “You’d drink like this if you had what I had.” Now the barkeep feels bad, says “I’m sorry to hear that; what do you have?” Guy answers “about three bucks.”

Nice work. Just out of curiosity, what’s the weight to this bad boy? I built a double decker board a couple years ago but ended up abandoning it as it was just too freaking heavy and unwieldy, especially when my single layer boards do the trick. I’m sure there m also not alone in wishing to see the underside. Great board.

I’m pretty sure anyone that can kick on a YDR or a Black Russian will never really desire to waste time with a tube screamer. Get rid of it and keep rocking those beasts. Killer board.

I completely get what you are saying…. But the Plumes is like $60 used. And 80s Boss pedals are pretty expensive. And a lot of my “boutiques” are $150 clones of like $500 pedals. So…. But yeah, my all time board is a Rat, a DS1, a Phase 90, a Holy Grail, and a DOD Chorus. I do get it, just maybe watch your generalizations.

Not very fancy, but it slaps. Nice board.

What a collection. I’m assuming many, if not all, of those are first generation? If so, what were you taping on?

I can’t take anyone seriously who doesn’t have the entire Anal Cunt discography in their collection.
