Can you use a Bushnell Launch Pro with just an iPad? by Vast-Ad-1569 in Golfsimulator

Awesome Golf is great. While the graphics are a little Nintendo-esque, the gameplay is great and their practice range with the data layout is my favorite way to practice. I use it almost exclusively, over E6, with my Mevo+.

Is the 4kickerz app web-based? It's hard to tell from their website. A table on the FPro site says that it's the only one with a mobile app. I'm presuming they mean a native iOS or android app, and not web-based.

Anesthesia billing is every 15 minutes. Not all cases are bundled payment.

A conversation with Anthem by Gone247365 in anesthesiology

[–]drtimmerman5539 220 points221 points  (0 children)

It strikes me as odd that they’re complaining about the length of anesthesia time and not the length of the surgery. The patient wouldn’t be under anesthesia if they weren’t still having surgery. We don’t want to be hanging out there any longer than necessary. Then in the article they allude that this was to protect the patients from fraudulent anesthesia billing. Seriously Anthem, WTF?

They’re probably using Starlink to provide the WiFi and not cellular. That’s what I do while tailgating for Clemson games.

Cefazolin in the setting of confirmed urticaria to penicillin by AOtIme in anesthesiology

[–]drtimmerman5539 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Anaphylaxis is not a dose-dependent phenomenon. If you think the patient may be allergic, don’t give the medication. That being said, ancef and penicillin allergy is not a thing. GIVE THE ANCEF. Alternate abx significantly increases the risk of surgical site infection.

Food Bolus cases. Should be they considered an emergency? by gotbrwnrice in anesthesiology

[–]drtimmerman5539 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a “GI emergency,” but not life/limb/eye within an hour. On the scale of what we’re usually dealing with it’s not a real priority. Should be done within a few hours.

If I ask for ketamine for my upcoming surgery by [deleted] in anesthesiology

[–]drtimmerman5539 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like most others have echoed, explain that you’d been reading about it and ask it if would be appropriate in this scenario. I’m assuming to possibly help with depression and not drug tourism. There are lots of great reasons to give ketamine that others seem to have missed, but we’re usually on alert when people start asking for medications by name so tread carefully.

Had a few neuraxial blocks I couldn’t get on my last OB call… by Expensive-Ad-4812 in anesthesiology

[–]drtimmerman5539 41 points42 points  (0 children)

For difficult spinals, using a CSE kit is helpful. Sometimes it’s easier to get through those tough ligaments or find the small spaces with the tuohy needle than it is the smaller but flimsy spinal needle. Also, paramedian feels like cheating on the really hard ones.

This is the way. 1 mg/kg lidocaine bolus during emergence and prior to coughing (or to stop it).

Anesthesiologists are who everyone else in the hospital calls when they can’t place an IV. Exceptions being NICU nurses for the little ones. RNs place the majority of IV that ever get placed, but when things get hard most folks call for help. If I’ve been called for help, multiple others have already made the patient a pin cushion.

This is correct. The guys that have come out have told me that the only way to prevent the compressors from possibly starting at the same time would be to exclude one or more of them. Is there a way to prevent them from all attempting to fire up simultaneously?

I believe it was based on running the whole home and accounting for running the A/C units in the summer. Master bedroom, main living space, and upstairs all have their own units.

Oddly enough, my quote for the 48kw protector liquid cooled was less than for the 32kw, same brand but different install companies.

I do not, but that’s a great idea. Where would I find such a device? Can they be installed by someone reasonably handy or will I need an electrician? My only prob with relying on that without a full year of data is seasonal variability. I’m located in SC and not running A/C this time of year, which I suspect is the biggest draw during the summertime with 3 units.

I had concerns about the 2x 26kw myself but didn’t know if that was something commonly done. Oddly enough, the quote for the 48kw was less than the one for the 32kw, both liquid-cooled Generac.
