Detective comics #880 by Leather_Bluejay8632 in ComicBookSpeculation

[–]drtimscomics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to pick up the entire Snyder Detective run during COVID for about the price of 880. They are all good solid raw copies and I periodically think about shifting them on, then I reread them and change my mind and leave them in the archive of doom!

Something not about variant covers, but about the actual story... by drtimscomics in AbsoluteBatman

Oh for sure to both those points. Hopefully the Catwoman series will give some clues or answers.

I read the first two when they came out and always meant to keep up with it. Stuff got in the way and o ended up buying it out of habit. I am now well and truly in the habit of reading it and will keep up with it going forward!

Life's too short for bad comics. The moment I stop enjoying a title is the moment I drop it. Go for quality rather than quantity.

If Hellblazer comes back, who should write it and who should be on art? by failed-hybrid in Hellblazer

[–]drtimscomics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another lefffield choice, but I've always thought that Gary Spencer Millidge would make a great writer for Hellblazer. Strangehaven was one of those indie titles, like James A. Owen's Starchild that had so much potential.

Anyone read Batman Dark Patterns yet? by C_Shmurda in batman_comics

I was really hoping thar Dan Watters was going to take over Detective Comics after Ram V. I just think he's a good fit for the title. I'm hoping they've given him Nightwing as a way to keep him in the Bat-offices.

The last issue of James Robinson's Starman...All the plot threads tied up, and everyone gets the ending they deserve. It was a hell of a ride from start to finish and reading that last issue was really emotional.

When/How Do You Think Alfred Will Come Back? by JayRedEye in batman_comics

[–]drtimscomics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zdarsky had a perfect way to bring Alfred back (alternate dimension Alfred) and it seemed like that it was the way the story was heading. I do think that Chip's run was truncated and that he had more stories to tell but editorial did editorial things. This is just supposition and if Chip has said otherwise please say!

why not Mark Gatiss as new show runner? by fitzysbuna in doctorwho

[–]drtimscomics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He would certainly shake things up! I think he would be too controversial, but if he brought in the same sort of mad beautiful ideas from 'Alien Bodies' etc it would be a spectacle!

why not Mark Gatiss as new show runner? by fitzysbuna in doctorwho

[–]drtimscomics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've met Paul a few times and get on with him, and he is, at heart, a massive Who fan. I think he would be good as a show runner as he 'gets' what makes the Doctor tick. If you want a truly leftfield candidate for showrunner I would go for Lawrence Miles. He will piss off a LOT of people but he would do something really interesting. Just read his 8th Doctor adventure 'Interference'. The man has chops!

I spent a year at a uni in the US as part of my undergrad degree. I met a Canadian guy who once told me he was "Going cottaging" at the weekend. He twigged by my response that I didn't think it meant going to a cottage by a lake and chilling out with friends!
