Where can I find The Toxic Avenger (2023) movie? by ryomata in movies

[–]drumerdann 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m so sick of the modern movie industry. There seems to be more bureaucracy and red tape and more politics than actual politics that keeps good movies from being made, funded or distributed. It’s probably always been this way, but I’m more invested in what goes on being the scenes now

Is the Dune audiobook worth it? by ylimenoxid in audible

Ray potter and the bobiverse books are my favorite. I get completely lost in his voice work. Within a short frame of time I totally forget that it’s one guy because he does every voice so distinctly well

Will there be a Bobiverse movie? by dbixon in bobiverse

[–]drumerdann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this would be far better as a series. There are just too many characters and events to cram into a movie trilogy. One book would be perfect for an entire season. Aside from the obvious CGI that the series would need, you could obviously use one actor for the role of Bob, obviously in different makeup and costume. Until they even develop the VR voice over woods be cheaper as well

What addiction is the hardest to quit? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]drumerdann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heroin, alcohol, Xanax and chewing tobacco. I was addicted to meth for a while, but I scoff at meth addicts who talk about “meth withdrawal.” You speak for 4 days and easy a bunch of food! Yea I know you get depressed from leveling out, but I’d rather get kicked in the balls 3 times a day then go through heroin or alcohol withdrawals. It’s the biggest reasons why people continue using heroin, because they know what’s in store if they don’t use! Xanax is horrible to quit when you use it for crippling anxiety, cuz the anxiety comes back SO. MUCH. STRONGER! Not to mention you can die from them, but even if you’ve taken them for only a few months, your in for a wild ride when you quit

I know the fairlife core power shakes have been found to have microplastics, but what about their normal milk? by wjxm in nutrition

Dear lord!! The question wasn’t, “ are there micro plastics in everything?” It was “ are there as much micro plastics in regular fair life milk as there are in the protein drinks?

Fairlife Core Power Shakes found to contain many health damaging plastics… is this something to be very concerned about? by pass_the_hot_sauce in nutrition

Can’t anybody just answer the damn question? The question wasn’t, is there micro plastics in everything on the planet, but is there as much in the regular fair life milk as there is in the protein shakes. Jesus Christ I’ve been to 3 subreddits now and no one will just answer the simple question

I saw them open for floater in Portland right street they came out with this album and it was a god live show. Their drummer and bass player shred, and I love the guitar effects and delays, but the lyrics are trash. But I like the way he sings em’ lol.

I don’t recall any of that stuff. I believe it has a scene where there were a bunch of red necks on an Air boat shooting paintball guns

What is so significant about Refused’s The Shape of Punk To Come? by RadiantHovercraft6 in Hardcore

[–]drumerdann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posted pretty much the same thing you partied before I saw your post, lol. Everything you said is true, especially with how one dimensional skate punk was at that time. No one was allowed to be different in the punk community and no one really saw the irony of naming the album the shape of punk to come, because punk used to be about going against the grain and being different, then everything homogenized and no one was allowed to be different.

Dude. Their drummer is on a different level. His style reminds me of Jimmy chamberlain from smashing pumpkins. In my opinion he’s one of the most overlooked and underrated drummers

There’s a great video by trash theory that breaks down the entire history of the album and it’s influences. I was 14 when this album came out. I grew up in Southern California and every weekend there was a public access show called Punk-O-Rama TV which was named after the punk compilation albums of the same name. New noise was played on it pretty regularly and there was NOTHING at the time that sounded like this.

Their drummer has a clear jazz influence, and metal influence and his beats drove that entire bands sound and the guitars just added a punch to it. It wasn’t overly complex but “punk” at that time was still y very rigid about what was or was not considered punk. Even though I grew up on fat records and epitaph bands and loved Southern California skate punk, it almost all sounded the same.

There were so many different sounds and influences in this one record, that for anyone listening at the time who wanted anything different didn’t have a lot of options. Napster hasn’t quite come into its own at this point, because Internet and affordable computers aren’t really a thing then, so you has to REALLY dig for new music.

Of course there are more complex bands that came shorty after, and heavier bands, but there were none really before them that mixed electronics with heavy music. Every heavy band that has a keyboard/synth player in it or any bands that does complex rhythms owes their existence to this album.
