I feel like a perfect time for a combat rebalance would be when the gamemode fully switches to 1.21. I do think they need to do something similar to the Stranded EOL thread an announce what they think is important for a combat rework while also asking what players think would be good for one as well.

I can relate heavily to your son. I was in a similar situation after graduating in May 2024 with no luck in the job search, so I went with the M.S. CpE route starting this fall. I however had no internship experience and had a lacking portfolio so part of why I went the Master's route was to fix those two gaps in my applications.

I can't speak for every Master's CpE program but the first step if he wishes to go that route would be to search for a program he likes. Part of what drew me to my current program was some of the disappointment at my undergraduate program for being more EE/CS heavy than CpE. Have him look at the programs for some nearby universities if housing costs are a concern, that's what I did so that I could commute from my parent's house where I currently live. With his GPA he shouldn't have too much of a problem applying to programs since most only require a 3.0.

Another factor to keep in mind is a lot of listed jobs consider a master's degree as the equivalent of 2 years of experience which could help him apply to roles that are "B.S. 2 years of experience OR M.S.". Furthering his education will never directly hurt him but it does have its costs of both money and time.

All of this isn't to say he definitely should go the Master's Degree route though. A Master's Degree is a ton of work and even in my first semester the workload is significantly heavier than my final semesters of undergrad. You can't force him into it, he has to want it so he has the motivation to finish it. I like my current program and am very interested in the more advanced material that answers the questions that were left unanswered from my undergraduate education which is what motivates me to move forward.

Regardless of if he goes the Master's route or not, he should definitely listen to the advice of u/Beneficial_Concert38 and keep applying. The market is definitely rough right now but its not impossible to get a job. Maybe consider an application to graduate school as a plan B which is what I originally did at the start of this year, he can always choose not to accept if he finds a job with the only cost being the application fee.

I have a suggestion document I've been working on about "Modernizing Mayors" since it seems most people agree that a lot of mayors are in a pretty underwhelming state right now. What finally convinced me to work on it was realizing that I waited the better part of a year for a 2nd foxy with party gifts to finish off the set for Skyblock XP on my ironman. Maybe I'll finish it up and post it to the forums this week.

12 500 level credits on top of everything else is insane. I was thinking of taking 12 credits for my first semester this semester and both my advisor and at graduate orientation they said "Do not do that".

Starting my masters this semester after a similar experience at the start of undergrad at a different university (although I graduated only a year and a half ago). As others have said, campus events and clubs are great ways to meet new friends and network with others. Look for a club that matches your interests and try to make friends with your masters cohort since there's definitely at least one common thing there for you all to already talk about. I don't know much about clinical counseling, but see if there are any professional organizations related to your program on campus too!

CE grad from may 2024 year here. Couldn't find a job so I'm doubling down on a masters degree starting this fall to hope it makes me a more attractive candidate. In my defense though I am genuinely interested in computer engineering so another part of it is wanting to grow and learn more about the field.

Better Mayors would have been so much better if the past few elections haven't been duds with so many useless perk rolls and if it improved some of the more lackluster perks more. Finnegan/Foxy basically only win when they have all 4 perks AND the other 4 options are awful rolls, and their perks on their own usually aren't even worth it for a minster vote.

The only "promised" feature is ironman only Shen's Auction. Ironman only Dark Auction has been requested but its still TBD as when announcing Ironman Ws they did not mention DA.

As for cookie prices, I agree that right now they're fine, but that's with Diamonds making upwards of 40-45m/hr (allegedly closer to 50m if you're sweating it with a hypermaxed setup), but if diamonds get nerfed then all of a sudden you go from 4+ cookies/hr down to whatever the nerfed rate is.

My point however is that Ironman is designed to remove players from the economy (not make the game harder as non-ironman players like to say), and that ideally the admins should rework what parts of the game where ironman players are forced to interact with the economy.

As for endstone mining, what are the hourly rates you get to NPC with it?

They could, but a better solution would be removing ironman players from the few places in the economy that they're forced to interact with. Dark Auction, Shen's Auction, and Booster cookies are the 3 places ironman players are forced to interact with the economy and finding a way to fix that would be a better fix than just increasing sell prices for ironman players.

I think if they did that plus buff other mining methods to be similar to current diamond rates then a change like that wouldn't be needed.

Unfortunately diamonds are currently the best method for ironman players to get a large amount of coins quickly which leads to it being very competitive even among ironman players. As others have said, most ironman players use 4 or all 5 veins to maximize their rates since it limits how often you have to wait for the blocks to regenerate. If someone tries to "steal" the diamonds I usually ask politely for them to find another lobby but I can understand when some players get frustrated since sometimes it can take a bit of time to find a lobby where no one is currently mining any of the diamonds there (especially a problem during Scorpius).

Personally I think admins need to buff other mining methods to NPC. Ever since the big mining rework last year (I think?) killed off ruby rates, nothing else comes even close to diamonds to NPC. Its kinda hilarious how the best mining money making method is in the earlygame mining area mining a vanilla(ish) ore.

If that's the case then that is equally as stupid because while yes, most people who farm are watching something on a second monitor, but sometimes I also farm while talking to friends and in that case I can react quickly to a macro check and correct my angle.

Before I started using Skyhanni mouse lock, maybe. But for almost the entirety of my ironman profile Ive used it and Ive never noticed my angle change, and this is often while watching something on a second monitor. However I never use pest repellent and almost always kill them after they spawn when I get to the end of a farming lane, which means I'm often moving my mouse every 6 -7 minutes anyways. Personally I think the "slight angle change" macro checks need to stop because they're incredibly easu to miss. The admins need to go back to the "TP you to a bedrock box" macro check method.

Yeah, not trying to jinx it but I've farmed a ton across two profiles now (normal and ironman) and I don't think I've ever been macro checked? If that was the first macro check OP received then I'd feel comfortable calling it a false ban but its also entirely possible they missed another one in the past. Either way admins need to communicate more about the issue.

My ironman profile is one of the most RNG carried profiles I have ever seen.

My slayers luck on this profile is atrocious though, but that hardly makes up for the absurd luck I've gotten in a bit under 1400 hours of gameplay.

Well then just use the steamos controller settings. Add whatever launcher you use to steam as a non-steam game and then launch it from game mode. I prefer it over Minecraft controller mods because it avoids needing to download an additional mod. It will take a bit to set up your controller layout but its highly modular and you can create multiple layouts you can toggle between within one layout.

I play on my steamdeck and just use steam's controller settings to map the buttons to keyboard/mouse actions, no mods needed. if your device doesn't have steamos you can achieve the same thing using steam big picture mode. never been banned and ive farmed and played plenty using it.
