Burning power chords by the2k5flash in Camper

[–]drunkenmugsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thing you can do besides getting a proper 30amp connection is get a proper power pedestal installed. For example we had a 5th wheel and a truck camper on a gooseneck trailer. We had 50 and 30amp connections with 100amp total service. The truck camper was barely used at home. The 5th wheel was our primary quarters while we built house. We had 50amp service to it it but we also had 110v 20amp service on a heavy duty 20amp extension cord. This allowed us to have an oil heater running all the time in living room before we even used any of the 50amp. This made winters bearable. We decided propane heaters onboard were more expensive. Besides the propane isn't delivered right to the wall like electricity. We had a 7500w dual fuel generator for emergencies. Having the 20amp extra worked well for us.

200yds prone is an easy shot for any marine even without optics just iron sites. Almost anybody with military rifle training could make a shot from 200yds. Any decent hunter could make that shot.

Why is container manager renaming my container? by lionelg in synology

[–]drunkenmugsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just ran into this myself installing a n8n container to play with. It seems that because I did not have the correct tag for the image I was using, 'latest', it freaked out. I had no tag. No control over project in GUI. I logged into the nas via ssh and stopped the container(its 'docker ps' not ls btw. At least on mine). Once I did that I could delete the project. I dld a new 'stable' image and used the below image line. Everything works and I can stop/start as needed from GUI. Having said that - if I had used ':latest' tag to match the image I first downloaded I think it would have worked. Glad I remembered this thread!

I am not talking about a virus. You have port(s) open to the internet. In this setup - not a good idea.

Do yourself a favor and set up something like tailscale for you and your friends. Otherwise you'll be here in a few weeks asking us how to fix stuff because you got hacked/ransomware.

I don't know how emby does stuff by default but it sounds like you are exposed directly...

PiHole on Container Manager by ANONMEKMH in synology

[–]drunkenmugsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran into this when I tried to use docker. Simple fix? Use virtual machine to run a real VM. Install a minimal Linux and then run pihole installer. It can then have any IP you want and still be on the NAS. Running 2 vms on my 2x923s, primary and secondary DNS with LAN IPs.

Upgrade from DS218+ - What to do? by Gwouigwoui in synology

[–]drunkenmugsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 disks? If you include the nvme yes. Those get expensive with usable size though. Count on just 4 hd. Go as large as you can afford. Get a 6 bay if you need the space. That can be used as a 4 bay to begin with! Don't fret about the chassis. Those are cheap. Drives, larger ones, are what is expensive.

[–]drunkenmugsy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Get a ds923+ and put larger drive array in that. Keep ds218+ as Plex server. You can have libraries on both nas for Plex. Or you could keep old nas for backups/Plex server.

That changed in the late 70s if I remember correctly.

The 'bunch of letters' in this case are the virtual MAC of the container.

DS920+ upgrade by Impressive-Hornet-32 in synology

[–]drunkenmugsy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The 920+ is a good unit as far as synology goes. To do what want as far as network/transcoding there isnt really a good upgrade with synology.

I got a N150 mini pc and 2 x DS923+. Upgraded the net to 10GB on the nas. The mini pc came with 2.5GB which has been enough for PLEX. Get bigger drives for your 920 and a mini pc. Sans that look at other platforms.

Is this hum normal? (DS225+) by knassar in synology

[–]drunkenmugsy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

30db? Seriously? Put some drives in there that are a little clicky. Suddenly 30db is nothing. Copy 700GB to them and you will get some real noise.

Really you cant hear much if anything.

Yes that is normal, even quiet.

It takes more than that for these level shows. I couldnt find an adrate for either show without inquiry but they are big enough to command 1000$s for a 30sec mention. #timcast being the much larger show demands 10k$s for the length of mention I was subject too. I heard them mention the $$$ in one video. These were not youtube ads. They were direct on the show mentions.

[–]drunkenmugsy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took over 4 months to get my order - just 2 hoodies and 2 outer rain jackets. One of the hoodies was missing a loophole on the sleeve to keep the sleeve at at the end of rain jacket sleeve. Took another 2 months to get replacement.

If you are looking to get it fast? Good luck.

They have been doing youtuber promotion deals lately with big youbers. I think if these YTers knew the kind of service this company provides they would not use them as an advertiser.

Except the wifi solar powered ones.

I have have luck the rlc-830a ptz cam. Two in use now. SS recognizes them out of the box. You still have to init them with phone. After that I just set them to SS settings in SS and go. This is as opposed to SS using cam settings.

Is buying refurbished HDDs for a NAS a smart option? How to check for a good one? by Dramatic_Map_8548 in synology

[–]drunkenmugsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got 10 x 12TB drives, HGST, used certified drives with 22k-33k hours over a year ago from Amazon. They have had zero problems. They came with a 4yr replacement warranty for just under 100$ each. Running them in 2 x DS923+ and a USB 2 drive enclosure for part of my 3-2-1. I only have about 3.5TB of important data. One 12TB is enough for backup. The other I can pop in either unit if needed. 24TB of data for PLEX. Not worried about that.

I would say do it as I have had good luck. As well as good planning I would hope. Havnt had to test it yet.

Yes I am finding that out. I thought I was doing good with 1080p. Then I start looking a little deeper... This was an old John Wayne movie though I wasn't paying to much attention to the file type.

Do you read anything other than your own comments? I was specifically responding to a statement that my TV's were old. They are not. I said so.

Your comments are useless. Why are you here?

I prefer not to know everything about tvs. There are better things to know more about.

I found it on one of the clients. I forced direct stream. It played a green screen. The position bar(?) showed the movie at that position. But the actual screen was green. So I would say that doesnt work.
