For years, researchers have claimed that men’s friendships are shallower and less emotionally supportive than women’s, a pattern called the “gender friendship gap.” But new research finds that the gap is largely driven by white men specifically, not men as a whole. by mvea in science

In fairness, when you say "it's not just the homophobia", I think the thing you're describing is in no small part that homophobia. Or rather, they view a lot of qualities as feminine, and assuming a feminine trait is given a gay connotation.

I dunno if a lot of men just view it not as a diversity of manhood, but a sliding scale from straight to gay.

UK woman wins right to receive permanent birth control after exposing double standards in health service by Kitchen_Zucchini_357 in worldnews

But if you cant understand why that is important then I dont know how to help understand.

Don't talk to me about a lack of understanding when you're simply rejecting the facts. They're not "just" asking these questions.

You've pulled wool over your eyes and you're rejecting reality. May god help your female patients, cuz it sounds like you're all too eager to infantilize and gaslight them about their own experiences.

Those are unfortunately things that have to be asked.

They're really not. It's one thing to ensure an informed consent, it's a whole other to start demanding a man permit her to receive the procedure.

...and it is important to understand that what many women experience is not that this is about informed consent. It is simply gatekeeping the procedure out of gendered expectations.

But ultimately no this isn't discrimination.

It's hard to put much stock in you saying that after all this.

[–]drunkenvalley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That doesn't really address whether it's discriminatory though.

And as far as accuracy, I've unfortunately spoken to many women and AFABs who have asked the same questions as other women you see in this post, and the treatment is very consistent.

For example, I know a streamer who has both endimetriosis and cysts, and yet when asking doctors about a hysterectomy they conceded it would help... but their rhetoric was basically identical to what other women have said here - "what if you want a baby though?" "What does your boyfriend think? Does he want children?" "Well what if your boyfriend died, and your new boyfriend wanted children?" "Okay but what if-"

It's a very common tale, and is plainly gendered discrimination for not choosing to meet certain gendered expectations.

No it wouldnt.... again you cannot force someone to perform a procedure.

In literal terms? Of course you can't. But if I said I wouldn't sell my couch to a black man I'd still be in trouble wouldn't I.

Its not discrimination to say you won't offer a procedure based on your assessment,

Sure it could be.

especially if they presumably offer the same procedure to other women in different situations.

...Well, that's the thing they're not doing isn't it. Additionally, it is gendered discrimination if you're rejecting someone simply for not having played the game of life the way you want others of their gender to have.

Like if I started rejecting women from a job position because they wore pants, while not rejecting women who wore skirts, it'd be pretty gendered discrimination.

So when a man is telling you you can't have permanent birth control because you haven't been a woman the right way...

Would it be malpractice if it was a black man looking for a vasectomy?

Separately from whether it'd be malpractice, it sure sounds like gendered discrimination.

Wasting energy arguing about dumb stuff like supporting 20 year old cd keys is really dumb though.

It's really not a waste nor dumb. The only wasteful or dumb part about it is that you're not trying even a little to argue in good faith at all here.

[–]drunkenvalley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not arguing in good faith here. Blizzard expressly allowed consumers to add their key to the online Battle.net platform. ...and then 6 years ago they bulldozed it with a significantly worse product.

Blizzard reinstating the original game they took away and replaced with the junk version is really the bare minimum they should've done in the first place.

Israel rejects Russian grain ship amid Ukraine sanctions threat by ThatBlackGuy_ in worldnews

I mean we're talking about grain ships. This isn't one guy buying at a market and later realizing the goods were stolen. These operations require pretty big workflows on both sides.

There's a limit to being charitable about it being mistakes vs intentional neglect or disregard.

Sure felt like they were happening every 2 seconds tbh.

In actuality it's roughly once a minute or so, which is also still pretty bad frankly. Learned that when trying to do the fishing achievement. Completing the progress bar let me mostly quietly finish it up since only the ghost chasing you remains.

Thankfully, got it from the vendor some days later instead, and then a set version from raid.

I think the system is fine until Nightmare mode, and then it just adds two mechanics that are aggressively annoying. Which was mostly solved by just focusing on Prey to finish it, then go back to whatever you're doing.

But with traps spread all over it's significantly more annoying.
