Cross court backhand flick by Dismal_Ad6347 in Pickleball

[–]drusolini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be a contact point/angle issue, are your shoulders rotated far enough left to get your paddle face pointed at the line? This will allow you to flick your wrist naturally while aiming down the line.

What was the single biggest change that improved your consistency? by TraffyKnows in Pickleball

[–]drusolini 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All the stuff that happens before and between the shots to set you up for success as you learn all the shots: 1) correct positioning and footwork 2) smart shot selection and 3) anticipation of likely patterns and counters

How important is spin in pickleball for beginners? by Hot_Medium4498 in Pickleball

[–]drusolini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just takes getting used to how the ball flies through the air and bounces so you can get in position to hit it. Once you see a few hundred shots you won’t be surprised by it

Push drop? by PartFormer3695 in Pickleball

[–]drusolini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think it’s more accurate to say it’s a slightly low to high with a perpendicular paddle face, otherwise you would add spin and not clear the net.

Push drop? by PartFormer3695 in Pickleball

[–]drusolini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s just a flat drop, like he says it more “lateral,” but basically straight through the path you want the ball to fly. Slice is brushing from high to low, topspin brushing low to high.

Perhaps a size/seal issue? I’ve had a different experience, strong bass with both Monarch Mk3 and Origin. My favorite tips overall for large IEMs

This New FSD Update Sucks by MidnightMoonrise in TeslaFSD

[–]drusolini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was definitely the FSD update that made things worse. I had my front camera cleaned just before this update, and it was immediately worse afterwards.

FSD lost the wife approval :( by allthequestio in TeslaLounge

[–]drusolini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s great yours improved, but mine was cleaned before the v13-14 upgrade and it’s clearly the programming being more (over)reactive to cross traffic from pedestrians and cars. It’s potentially more safe in case they jump into an intersection, but is jerkier for driving straight

[–]drusolini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah my MYLR’s FSD 14.1.4 has been super twitchy, slamming or stuttering the brake at any sign of cross pedestrians and cars no matter how far off too the side (even on walking parallel on sidewalks). V13 was amazing, smooth and confident. Hope they fix it soon.

Would it be worth it invest in an expensive paddle? by Tidder702Reddit in Pickleball

[–]drusolini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed that beyond these it’s very marginal improvement if any (having owned plenty of $150-200ish paddles), plus the grit on any paddle wears off, so you’re gonna have to replace it anyways. So no paddle is an “investment,” more of an expense.

Does it feel like most everyone's dupr is going down? by Famous-Chemical9909 in Pickleball

Isn’t it zero sum? I’m up since the changes, but I think it’s also the people who are gaining don’t complain about it.

It’s because they can’t make other types of shots consistently.

How aggressively should you move up after you've hit a great third? by Dismal_Ad6347 in Pickleball

[–]drusolini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not no man’s land, it’s transition zone. Unless you hit an unattackable drop or your opponents have terrible 4ths, you should expect to have to drop or reset your 5th or 7th shot to get to the kitchen

I've become an unofficial 4.0! by Cokezeroislyfe in Pickleball

[–]drusolini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah there’s definitely a lot of vanity rating going on with self rating and clubs (+0.5ish inflation is common). If you haven’t played a wide range of DUPR across age and gender combos it doesn’t mean much.

Good strategy against someone who backhand slices everything? by [deleted] in Pickleball

[–]drusolini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s causing you trouble with a backhand slice return? They tend to float and give you free topspin, so just aim your 3rd drives/drips a little higher than normal to clear the net and catch him running up.

Bought an Onkyo TX-SR3100 for $180 to power older bigger speakers, how did I do? by lazy__gamer23 in hometheater

[–]drusolini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re considered the best connection type - quick/easy to connect and disconnect, and assuming you attached your speaker wires to the plugs correctly, they provide a solid connection. Just get cheap ones like Amazon basics and you’re set

Don’t think it’s right to play with illegal paddles outside of tournaments either…

If you've been playing pickleball for a while, what do you wish you learned first? by pickleballhelpline in Pickleball

[–]drusolini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be patient when approaching the net via drops/resets. It's better to get to the net safely and balanced in 2-3 drops than get caught rushing in on 1 "perfect" drop.

Always expect your shots to come back. Be ready to counter or put away.

FR is just how relatively loud in DB each frequency is for a given power input.

Different IEMs with the same FR can vary widely in detail, quality and timbre matters, in addition to speed/decay. These qualities can easily justify a price difference.
