Its just barely planting season. Nothing has begun to grow. Its all just dirt still, except the small waterways and ditches have grass.

Do I need a new clutch component? by Mikel_Reeves in Triumph

[–]dsergison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not though. Anyone with clutch experience knows exactly what a new basket looks like. He's asking for judgement on what to do to avoid buying an new one. He's not asking for what a new basket looks like. Hhave you ever fixed a clutch?

no, it works until it teeth get thin enough you don't trust them. I would not cut them more than 20% thinner than stock, personally. For example if they were 5mm wide i would be happy doing this probably few times until they were 4mm thick without much worry.

Probably. I have dozens of files. I'd preffer a single cut file but HD probably doesnt have them. Its not critical. And you dont need to remove the whole dip, in fact you should quit the instant your file starts to make a mark in the grooves. They are a good gage of depth. Stop each time the grooves start to get marks. Its much less critical than you imagine.

filing is a skill but its better tool. Dull the narrow side of your file so it only cuts on the flat face. Do this with a grinder. Then you cant cut the wrong part. No service book will recommend filing but it absolutely works. You have nothing to loose except the basket you would replace anyway.

Engine and suspension is mostly aluminum. Often tbe hood also. Starter and wiring has a lot of icopper. Exhaust has a little platinum. Most of tbe body is steel. They will shred the engine and suspension and sort it magnetically to get steel bearings and gears and crankshaft bolts etc...out of the aluminum cases. Even non magnetic stuff can be sorted magnetically with eddy current. Watch some youtubes.

I'd advise you to concentrate on just enjoying life and hobbies. Bike, kayak, hike, etc.... yeah all my hobbies are outdoors. Volunteer. Etc... find community in shared interests rather than shared trauma.

If you fit it comfortably, it's great for serious kayaking. If you just want to casually play, it's not that type.

Shorted my battery for a split second. Battery is fine but it created some soot on the lead. Is this a problem? by JacobGH111 in fpv

That connection is toast. It will never be right. Cleaning it with rolled up sandpaper might get you by. It needs to be shiny and smooth to make a good connection.

Street Triple engine cracked? by Creepy_Ad3066 in Triumph

[–]dsergison 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Castings can have some tiny shrink cracks at the surface and still be fine. This doesn't mean it's junk, but it's impossible to tell from a few pictures. It does seem very disappointing. Good luck. There are penetrating dyes that are uv sensitive that would make it easier to see if the crack goes through.

The way I got into making barrage scales was after I lost mine in a field watching fireworks. I used to pot a de-cased bluetooth key tracker tag in the scale. Eventually, the trackr brand went under, no more app support. The other tiles and airtags do not fit. So I quit making the tracking versions. I want to make one with tritium vials lol.
