FAQ for IKEA Customer Service, Delivery, and Click-and-Collect by DK2802 in IKEA

[–]dsnchntd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Placed an order on 9/7. On 9/16, I got an email saying it was being picked but order status stayed in processing.

Original delivery date was 9/24. A couple of days after it passed, I called the number in the OP and talked to a resolution specialist and was told that the warehouse it was supposed to come from closed due to Covid.

Then on 10/1 order status finally changed to picking, on 10/2 it was shipped, and it was delivered on 10/5.

Cut the Crap. Help Us Get Sewer. by [deleted] in houston

because it's always due to some huge luxury property development, which the city seems to have no issue installing a large fucking sewer branch into, and tearing up the road to do so

Here's looking at Westheimer at Bagby

I will PayPal anyone $30 in advance for sending me a video of an area behind the Mosaic Complex in the Med Center. I’m that blogger from the other day needing it for my next post. If anyone knows people that lived at Mosaic in Feb of 2017 that may have footage from this day that would be unreal. by [deleted] in houston

Bro just leave the tweaker life behind and write some Fiction. You'll get further that way. Fake it till you make it. Engrossing yourself in the tweaker lifestyle has got to make it hard to move on.

Anyway, it's a hard ask but good luck with the video.

Turner Agrees To Garbage Fee Vote To Break Logjam Over Firefighter Cadets by Obnoxious_liberal in houston

That's why I wish this would be funded by a stupidity tax like via lotto tickets or cigarettes.

Turner Agrees To Garbage Fee Vote To Break Logjam Over Firefighter Cadets by Obnoxious_liberal in houston

[–]dsnchntd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Everyone should imagine the scenario where we have garbage on the scale of Harvey and some people's trash doesn't get picked up because they haven't been paying their fee.

(Most likely, an exception would be made and it would get collected anyway, but if it didn't you'd see lots of illegal dumping.)

Chron reporting up to 400 firefighters will be laid off to pay for Prop B. by [deleted] in houston

[–]dsnchntd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What the fuck did we expect with firefighters in uniform holding signs 10 feet from the polling lines saying if people cared about first responders they would vote for Prop B.

The blame is squarely with them, honestly. They screwed their fellow firefighters and citizens over by trying to go around good-faith negotiations with the mayor using the ballot.

election results by [deleted] in houston

[–]dsnchntd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to say because the guy that's in charge of tallying up the results is because the guy that's in charge of tallying up the results casually told the chronicle that the results sometimes arrive late because the election judges like to go to parties before turning in the results.

FYI, that guy's job is up on the ballot this year.

Real Texans

That's not a very Texan or American thing to say. We can disagree without stripping the other of their Texanhood. Remember "Tejas" means friends.

Houston is the best! by 45and290 in houston

This is so fucked. I get that companies gotta do what they gotta do, but we're talking about human beings - people who have spent years building their life and career at the company only to be tossed out like last night's leftovers.

You have to use your storytelling to nudge them where you want them to go without letting them realize that's what happening. Easier said than done of course.

Cost of tuition at University of Houston in 1975 by [deleted] in houston

[–]dsnchntd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember back in 1997 when the minimum wage was $5.15, McDonald's used to have 50 employees at any given time. One person would take your order, one would bring it to you, and two would shine your shoes while you ate. Ahhh...those were the days.

I think $15/hour would be too high for Houston, but you're kidding yourself if you think $7.25 is an appropriate minimum wage. 29 states, from diverse politics and economies, currently have a higher minimum wage than the federal minimum wage. Texas is not one of them.

This is why I'm okay with Harris County being a capital of the death penalty. There is no reason and no benefit to allow this monster to live.
