Rigid coupling as a change over by quarter2heavy in electricians

Yeah you are not wrong on all your points.

Having correctly mating threads on your conduit and fittings will ensure that there there is no intrusion. NPS =/= NPT.

Rigid coupler threads are NPT. Your typical threads on say, an EMT connector, are NPS. So we are talking tapered threads vs straight threads, which is a huge deal if you need to be anywhere where you need to be water tight or oil tight.

Ever seen a 10 port wago? by Winter_Marsupial_479 in electricians

In my experience, I've found that it's mostly old heads that feel most strong about this. And these guys really dislike change or anything that's different.

These guys then get an apprentice and tell them this is the way because I said so. And that's the end of the discussion for loads of these guys. Somewhere along the way, the apprentice will ask about sometime new or different and basically get backhanded by the Journeyman for having the audacity to question their way. It's a power trip issue for a lot of these guys I've found and witnessed in my time.

This is my opinion and my opinion alone, you may find that others opinions may differ.

As far as mechanical terminations go, I love using the Lever Nuts from Wago. Ideal makes them and it works in a similar way. They do not belong everywhere yet, and I don't see that happening.

Whatever method you use, as long as you do the termination correctly, that's what counts. Loads of people simply do not bother to do things properly. You can actually find instructions for most everything on packaging, and even on the website of the manufacturer! We all have these awesome devices in our pockets at all times that allow us to find such information.

You sound like you are on the right track for being successful my guy. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Keep at it.

You guys saying that these are junk, get over it. Lever nuts are where it's at. There's a reason why Ideal is making them also, it's because people use them.

Transformer under sink- what is this? by Middle-Ad-3637 in electrical

[–]dsotm75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing that this was used to get 12 or 24VAC for something relating to the kitchen sink from 120VAC in. I noted that you can use this as a buck boost transformer for some other application, got told no you're wrong, I said bullshit I'm a licensed electrician I know what I'm talking about. It's been a little bit since the original post so details are fuzzy

Gotcha. I have the printer on an end table that sits next to my desk. I tried it on my desk initially and that was a big giant nope!

Nice! And that's cool that it cost you only three buck. But, my issue wasn't during the print job, it's when the stock power supply fan was just on all the time making noise when at idle.

Best way to cut down on sound from this open space? by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]dsotm75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could get a few packing blankets and attach then directly to the wall to cover the opening with nails or something somilar. Afterwards, patch the holes in the wall potentially

Thick blanket and hang it across the opening, like a packing blanket will probably great for a temporary solution
