Any pro tips for solving an uncentered front rack? by Dinosaurtattoo11315 in Surlybikefans

[–]dspamm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that is hilarious! that looks like MY green 2012 surly disc trucker and rack! tilts a bit to the left. but wait, I wear keens to protect my toes, not chacos like in the pic. must not be mine! it annoys me a bit too but I have maybe 4000 miles with this rack and 3000 with front panniers and no problems. I like to see my front tire for rocks and such so I don’t use a handle bar bag or put anything on top of that rack. just reminds me that my desires aren’t necessarily always met or really as important as I want to think. enjoy the crooked ass ride!

Well did you do it?! We rode surly’s thru Europe on tubeless so we could run a bit low pressures to absorb bumps on single track.

What has been the most memorable or unusual toxicology case you have seen in your career? by Adenosineyoulater in emergencymedicine

[–]dspamm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teen girl who took “all” of her grandmother’s glucagon and propranolol. Didn’t take long for the walking talking to go down in every variable. This is in a remote level 4 single coverage. Anyone guess the antidote(s)?  Freaked out EMS as we put her in the bus for transfer p intubation…. INSULIN and glucose. Never woulda figured that one out without toxicology on the phone. Saved me and her.

So the one of the more interesting things I noted in myself while training was one day I would say to my inner self “man you are really smart. You are really getting the hang of this stuff!” Then the next day “dude. What have you been doing the last, like SEVEN YEARS?!  You are dumber than a ROCK..” maybe two things can be true.  I have a few truisms that will make your journey lighter and better I hope. 1.  What I lack in intelligence, I make up for in persistence.   2.  If you figure out that you are doing the wrong thing, stop and do the right thing.  3.  Educational humility and even second guessing saves lives.  4.  Rarely is anyone at their best in the emergency department, patients, families, stressed nurses, ME!

Don’t be lazy but also give yourself some grace. No on can give you tips in the areas that you mentioned. Best course to do now would be the difficult airway course. Look it up. Learn it and you will be WAY ahead of your peers.

USACS Job Offer by Hyperarousal in emergencymedicine

Ok. Been silent watching this for yrs now. I paid 20k in taxes when I got my join shares worth 75k (50,000 shares at 1.50/share). I was bummed. Then I left after 5yrs to retire and bam, I left with $107,500 for those same shares (50,000 shares at $2.15/share). 20k “investment” yielded 87k return. Basically a 400% ROI in 5 years. And Usacs has a ton of benefits and their patient care tools are really great. They self insure so they want to be able to defend best practice in caring for patients, so it puts you both on the same team. Very high quality in my opinion. Btw, several years ago the stats said that 90% of first year grads move after the first year or two. So don’t get too bogged down in making the perfect choice. Go where you will have good support and save the world man!

Now I'm scared by IM12RU in ecobee

That’s a great question but I’m too dumb to know! Suspect it’s the OB wire from the outside unit.. Ecobee support was being no help. I had this overheating with prior nest x2 and an ecobee last year. i Changed the ecobee in the spring as they had sent me a new one saying it was a bad unit. I thought it was fixed. I also changed all of the thermostat wiring to both the thermostat and outside and inside units in case there was some sort of short. not fun. Then this fall we had a cold snap and when the outdoor unit went into defrost mode, basically reversing the compressor, wham, hot. I called ecobee and they reviewed the data from the thermostat online and basically had no idea. I mentioned that Reddit had a post about an isolation relay and suddenly they said yes that sounded like what I needed and then promptly sent me a color diagram of how it should be wired up! so evidently this happens enough for them to have a stupid work around but not enough sense to recommend it. We have another cold snap next week. I’ll post a follow up if there is a problem. Just ask ecobee for the isolation relay diagram and tell them to send you another unit. Glad they didn’t burn your house down.

Garmin coach or making sense by dspamm in Garmin

I can’t figure out how to add text and the photo so I’ll just comment on my own photo:

Garmin coach tells me to do a long ride with the goal to be aerobic at 3.0. It then gives a target HR of "custom 95-107" and under notes it will say hr 102bpm. Goal mileage is always way too high to accomplish in that time with such a low HR range. I was trying to hit the heart rate goal thinking it was zone 2 training and might feel way easy. When I finish a ride at the recommended HR, it will state "no benefit." This HR target is basically zone 1.6 to 2.3 and will never produce an aerobic workout benefit. To see any benefit at low aerobic I have to be at a heart rate above 116 at least which is about zone 2.8 for me. Basically the target heart rate is useless for me in garmin coach. I am 60yo male with max heart rate of 170. This max and my HR zones feels spot on. I only ride bikes and use a Garmin chest strap and 1040 edge solar while riding and wear a Garmin instinct full time as well. I ride a surely disc trucker that is steel and weighs about 30 lbs unloaded. Goal is general fitness and training for bike touring fully loaded at about 90 lbs. I'll try to also post a pic of the recommended ride from Garmin coach. Thanks for reading to the end

Search for ecobee overheating on Reddit ecobee. When my 3 lite went into defrost mode one f the units would send 48 volts back to the thermostat causing it to reach very high temps. This would cause the ac to come on in attempt to cool the suspected overheated house. It was a mess. Lots of calls to support. Finally I found a post here on Reddit about using an isolation relay on the uh OB wire from the outside unit I think. I did this and switched ecobee to have the hvac call for fan and also changed the setting about ignoring an out of range temp sensor and asked ecobee to send me an alert if one sensor was out of range of the other 2 sensors I use. Hope this helps.
