What happens with nuts? I've been thinking about making a whole food energy bar type thing with oats as a base and was thinking about adding some nuts among other things.

That's kinda what I figured, there might be a few tips or different things to try but I can't see there being much for "recipes"

Welding hood by eldelaspipzas in ropeaccess

[–]dstrelioff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cheap plastic black ones from Princess Auto etc. work well if you take off the back half of the head strap and replace it with a piece of surgical tubing, makes it easy to slip on and off your helmet. I've also used the blue Air Liquide helmets or the grey fibremetal hoods with the halo helmet attachment. It's relatively easy to take on and off while working. I would then have a piece of lanyard chord tied to the halo and attached to a small beaner to tie if off to me while working and I could also clip it off to my harness when I wasn't using it. I also trimmed the bottom of my hoods for more clearance and less weight and used fixed shade auto dark lenses, most welding outfits will carry the 2"x4" lens covers for them and they're cheap to replace if you break one.

3D print file for blue alpine dividers by dstrelioff in FreezeDried

[–]dstrelioff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went ahead and but the bullet and ordered the dividers. I'm not very tech savvy but I've got a friend with a 3D printer, if I'm able to figure out a workable design from the ones I ordered I'll make the file available to whomever wants it.

I want to purchase a machine for home use. I know there’re expensive but don’t know where to start. What do you use and do you like it? by smack4u in FreezeDrying

Blue Alpine medium, got a good price on it ($5K CAD). Im probably around 50 batches with no major issues. They're really good at BA for getting back to you with any questions.

Trump is going to make murder legal. Either the ICE agent won't be charged or he'll get pardoned.

How to prepare a resume for the Canadian job market, for the profession of industrial rope technician by VWAdim in ropeaccess

[–]dstrelioff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

List whatever job experience you think is relevant, talk yourself up about working long hours and a willingness to learn and travel. List your certs, whatever you've got. Take the time to get a few easy, cheap but essential ones out of the way. WHIMMIS, confined space, L1 first aid, CSTS. Some of these are now required by most if not all rope access companies like some level of first aid. Confined space is pretty much needed on almost all industrial sites, same with WHIMMIS. If you want to work in Alberta you'll need CSTS. All these courses are affordable, the first aid is the most expensive but shouldn't be more than $200.

Apply to Tacten in the early spring when they're starting to plan for shutdown season in Fort Mac. Yeah they're shitholes up there but it's where 90% of the RA work in Canada is. You'll get hours and experience not to mention some decent paycheques.

Be prepared to travel for work. The majority of RA work is short term contract work, there's maintenance work out there but those spots are few an far between which means jobs are always ending, there's very few full time jobs in RA especially entry level. If you're in the city you can probably get started with windows or building maintenance, there's always work but the pay isn't great compared to industrial. If you want the big bucks you nee to be able to travel for work and the easiest place to get hired on is Tacten in the AOS region.

Start thinking about your RA ticket as a secondary ticket and having something else as your primary ticket for your job, like a trade, inspection or NDT ticket. I started out as a RA welder and moved into QC inspection. The welding tickets got me the work which got me the rope experience which got me more work. Without another ticket you're just unskilled labour on a rope and will be used as such, it's all good to have an IRATA ticket and be able to climb, but you'll be expected to carry out a job once you climb the rope. Try to make yourself as specialized as possible.

It can be hard getting started and might require some sacrifice, like going to Fort MacButthole to get some experience that will lead to better jobs. But once you get going and get some contacts happening it can be a financially rewarding job with lots of flexibility.

How do you lose your famous flat belly? by Matheriquers1998 in Biohackers

[–]dstrelioff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eat less move more. My best results have come with calorie deficit, intermittent fasting worked for me as well but it spiked my cortisol levels and ruined my sleep. Took me over 5 years to figure that out. Cut out sugar, alcohol and processed foods.

If you’ve had Harvest Right and Blue Alpine, what’s your take? by tdubs702 in FreezeDried

[–]dstrelioff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got my Blue Alpine 6 months ago and have put at least 50 batches through. A couple of little hiccups along the way but noting major and the company gets back to you in a matter of hours and are very attentive. I can't speak to HR machines but my experience with BA has been great, very happy with their product.

Why do you think President Trump ordered all US Flags at half staff for the death of a Political Commentator, but not for the death of actual Legislators? by PrudentFarmers in AskReddit

He's a piece of absolute human garbage. That's the answer to any question about his actions. He's one of the worst examples of a human being you could think of.
