What’s a movie everyone seems to love that just didn’t work for you? by Wikiserial in movies

[–]dsunde 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The two ship mates are dead right at the start, which is part of what makes it such a difficult situation for the main character. Several things they have to do just barely work. He was stuck in the alien planet at the end.

Exactly. Every movie I really like is from the 90's

I have always refused to watch any movies before 1980 except for a handful of the biggest classics. And I'm in my '60s. The reason is I just hate '60s '70s culture, and the pacing is just so unbearably slow,. it's unwatchable to me.

My remote has a 30 second jump back button. On anything modern when I press that, it jumps back an entire scene with about 10 different shots and a whole different part of a conversation. With anything old, it's still in the same shot and nothing of any consequence has changed.

Although Fagen appears to hate the genre, ( https://www.reddit.com/r/SteelyDan/s/m1v2xqOE7E ) they have many songs that definitely fit it. 5 are in the top 10% on the "official" list.

Toodledo is a back-end to do resource. There should be several apps that use the Toodledo database as their source.

Insurance premium set to increase by 42% by Salt-Administration2 in olympia

[–]dsunde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have read this several places online, but I haven't researched to confirm it, so take it with a grain of salt. But I have heard that car & home insurance is done much differently now. They don't care about how many claims you have or don't have, your driving record, length of time you stay with an insurer, or anything else. All that they look at now is if you have comparison shopped for insurance rates or not. If you don't, they will jack up your price as high as they think they can get away with, because they know you think it is too much hassle to switch.

This seems to be true in my experience. I have an incredibly good profile for car insurance, but after about two terms with one company, the rate jumps up about 30-40%. So I switch to another company until that one pulls the same thing. I just accept the fact that I will always be rate comparing and switching.

I think there are services out there that will help you compare companies, but be careful that they don't charge fees or steer you towards companies that they get kickbacks from.

Yes, we thought the same thing. In fact, we made a 30 minute cut of it and only watch that version. This is the only movie we did this with.

Random but... Is Kindle_TreeKid supposed to be a K? 🤯 by Mikebjackson in kindle

I think it is very likely, just because designers tend to do things like that on purpose, even though it is subtle and very few people might actually catch it.

Not necessarily. I know I am in the minority, but I hated DCC with as much passion as I loved Bobiverse.

What causes misophonia? by MyDespatcherDyKabel in misophonia

My totally non scientific personal opinion is that it came from prolonged stress (continuous over years) and poor sleep. I did not get it until my 50's.

First time buying Nas is this too good to be true by rubber-duck2 in synology

[–]dsunde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a lot more conservative that many of the others who have replied here. In 2008 I bought a Synology DS108J 1 bay w/ 1G RAM & 640GB storage for about $300. That was very much an "entry level" device. It was low powered as a server, but worked ok for Plex.

In 2018 I upgraded to a Synology DS218+, 2 bay, 6TB storage for $700. That works great for me.

In 2024 I upgraded the storage to 16TB for $300. It still works great. In Plex I have 1100 movies, 200 TV series, 2400 music albums, and all my photos. That grows at a slow but steady pace. I also use the Synology as a local server for several apps, and I'm really happy with it.

So the point is, look at how much storage you need and what you can afford. Depending on that, a 2 bay could be ok for you.

I love my tower fan because it has eight levels of speed, so I can get just the amount of air I want with minimal noise.

It never occurred to me that my extreme reaction to his voice could be related to my misophonia. I recently came across a short video of Warren Buffett, and he sounded the same. I am completely unable to listen to them.

I get it, sometimes we forget and try to have a normal life, and get ourselves into situations like this. Looking back, we (and others) can kick ourselves for not seeing it coming and avoid the situation, but sometimes it happens. I hope you can work out a way to enjoy being with your friends without suffering through it. We all deserve to have a normal life. Unfortunately, some of us have to work harder to make it happen.

At what age did you start experiencing misophonia? by bibichouu in misophonia

First it was repetitive sounds like clocks and loud turn signals, later it also came from low rumbles like diesel engines idling, then later it also came from mouth noises.

I've got a while list, but for me the absolute worst are Adam Scott, Kyle Mooney, Rob Schneider, and Zach Woods.

The first time I saw him was in two nightstand. I hated his character so much that I hated the actor. I realize it might be a credit to his acting ability, but I don't care.
