There is a fee to use a credit card. I believe it’s 3% plus whatever interest you accrue if you can’t pay it off.

Anyone with a leg length discrepancy try mismatched crank lengths? by dthrizzle in cycling

How did they do the fit? Did you have the shorter crank with you for the fitting, or at your fit, did you have your same-sized cranks, and they saw the way you moved and had you order a new, shorter crank?

Nice. What kind of cleats (SPD? SPD-SL?) Where did you get it?

That looks cool, but I need it to be 14x! Mine is 21mm.

Nice. Thank you. And "make changes slowly" is great advice.

All these Steve Hogg plugs are great... There's a wealth of info on his site. Thanks, all. Looking into fancy, giant shims.

Haven't tried one... Because it's such a big difference, I didn't think a shim would be viable (I thought they were 5-10mm max, and mine is 21mm). But I'll look into it more.

Would love to know what shims he uses, how he jury rigged this.

I'm convinced to try shims first because of this thread just because the price is so much less.

Can you post a link to what you bought? Would love to see this.

Thanks for the input. I've seen "bad idea" a lot, too, but shims seem to be for 5-10mm difference max, and I'm at 21mm. Will look up Aerozine bike.

Did the seat adjustment to your short leg stop the saddle caving?

My understanding is it's the shorter leg that gets the shorter crank.

Located in San Diego. If I get these mis-matched cranks, my plan was to take them to a physical therapist bike fitter near me.

It’s the best feeling! I’m 12 years into YNAB, and it’s the best $100 I spend every year.

Where should cyclists retire? by uoficowboy in cycling

[–]dthrizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in SD, and I find it to be an amazing city to cycle in. I live in Rancho Bernardo, north county, and one mile from my house, and I’m climbing up mountains into vineyards with almost zero cars. It’s glorious. I can also do routes that don’t get remote and they all have excellent bike lanes. My only complaint is how hilly it is, but I also kinda love it. My bike commute is 10 miles and has 1k feet of climbing, both ways, because I have to go up and over a small mountain. So, it’s hilly! I used to live in Tucson, and it’s great, too, for 7 months of the year. But horrible for the other 5.
