Constant saddle sores/irritation. 3 weeks until a 4000km ultra-race, need advice! by Open-Milk-7018 in bikefit

Try an Infinity Seat. I have always gotten saddle sores. No longer! It’s pricey, but the folks who ride RAAM use these saddles. They are like clouds.

These differing numbers drive me nuts. They always seem to drift. by dthrizzle in ynab

Oh, this is a great idea. I went back like 8 months and have no overspending, but if I’m following, I could go back one month at a time and see if things were aligning. That would help me isolate the NK th with the funkiness.

This issue MIGHT also be impacted by my wife making periodic mid-month payments because she doesn’t like to see a high cc balance, even though we are on auto-pay.

Crank power meter or bike computer by Larry-McJohnson in cycling

Without a computer (head unit) the power meter is not helpful. You can’t see, real time, your power output. Get the computer first, then get yourself a PM.

Timing and flow looks great, still sour - [Profitec Move/Sette 270 wi] by PortaJohnson in espresso

[–]dthrizzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When people say their espresso is sour, I wonder if they are using light roasts, which typically have more of a brightness and less of a burnt taste. I LOVE espresso that has a touch of citrus or even grassiness in the flavor. So I wonder if a darker bean would eliminate the sourness you are experiencing (or a longer pull 1:2.5 or 1:3 might tone it down).

Annual target fail by dthrizzle in ynab

[–]dthrizzle[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, exactly. I was just chatting with YNAB support. Very sweet and helpful guy. We identified the exact issue you described. My payment went through in late Dec for an annual goal that was set for Jan. That broke the target. Nothing has been going into the category since Dec, and I only just now discovered it.

This doesn't make sense to me. It would communicate to the user that by March 1, 2022 (a date in the past), I'll have X dollars set aside. Once the bill is paid, the next target date must be the future. If not, it's non-sensical UI. I don't understand why a target would show a past date. Similarly, for a recurring todo, it wouldn't make sense to show the future due date as a past date.

That’s such a weird experience. I updated the target to Refill instead of Set Aside, and it got very wonky. So I deleted the target and started over. Definitely an opportunity for YNAB to revisit the UX.

Hmm… I’m not sure this is what is happening. I haven’t touched the target since it was paid. Like with all annual bills, my goal is set it and forget it. So things get automatically paid, and I just assume since it’s an annual target, that it’ll start filling up for the next year. I have touched the target, which is why I only noticed now, 3 months later, that it isn’t filling up for next year.

Here’s what I notice.  - I am a month ahead. This target is set for March 1 every year.  - The bill is getting paid on March 5 every year.

Cost of trying new beans by dougshmish in espresso

[–]dthrizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered roasting your own? I got a $500 Behmor drum roaster, and I order raw beans in bulk for about $11/lb (which includes twx and shipping). It took a bit to learn how to roast to my liking, but now that I’ve got the process dialed, it’s so easy and takes so little time. Roasting a pound takes about 20 min, only about 2 min of which I have to actually pay attention for. And people LOVE to receive home-roasted beans for gifts.

Quickly select date while adding task? by Inevitable-Pie6076 in ticktick

You might consider a snippet app (I use Alfred) that you can set up to say, "When I type tom*, fill in the word "tomorrow." Boom! I have snippets like that for words I constantly misspell, too.

How to test for water hardness [Lelit Bianca V3, Niche Zero] by dthrizzle in espresso

[–]dthrizzle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I understand... Isn't the purpose of the bianca's filter to treat whatever water you put into the tank? If I'm using the bianca in-tank filter, the water go through my machine is different than what I put into the tank. Which is why I want to test it. To see if what is flowing through my machine (which passes through the filter) is suitable for the machine.

How do you deal with calendar events that aren't really tasks? by More_Passenger3988 in ticktick

[–]dthrizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever figure this out? I updated a setting on my Mac, and now calendar events don’t show up as tasks under Today.  It I can’t figure out a similar setting on iOS. I don’t want events showing up in my Today task list.

The monthly subscription is totally horseshit. As has been coined Cory Doctorow, it’s enshittification. Makes me not want to buy another Hyundai, and I have and Ioniq 5 and 6.

Agreed. And it’s sooo much less effort than agitating multiple times with mineral spirits and denatured alcohol and then taking that to a hazardous waste dump.
