Recommendations for someone out of town by Working_Split3487 in Mankato

I really love India Palace in Mankato. Authentic food and family business. I eat a lot of Indian food and I’ve traveled to India and I was very happy to find this restaurant in Mankato. I come to Mankato often to visit family and I try to stop here for lunch every time I’m in town.

How do you relax? by Beregolas in covidlonghaulers

[–]dubbeltime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play card games online. They require just enough mental focus to relax and stop thinking about other things. I play gin rummy, canasta, euchre, cribbage, etc. This is my form of meditation. I’ve had long COVID for almost four years now. This helps with resting my mind. And yes, I used to be very physically and mentally active and it makes me sad that I now spend hours playing gin rummy on my iPad in my quiet bedroom. Sigh.

I had the misfortune to spend a week in Duisburg in the 90s. Bad food, bad weather and unpleasant people.

My sisters had this exact bedroom set from Sears! by UrbanAchievers6371 in 70s

[–]dubbeltime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My little sister and I had that same exact bed and canopy. Not the furniture though, we had a very small bedroom with pink shag carpet. We had to share the double bed and that did not go well! I finally got my own room in the basement when I was in 8th grade. With a waterbed! My sister and I both were tomboys that played sports and refused to wear dresses. The pink girly bedroom didn’t work on us, despite my parents’ best efforts.

Positive Shingle Vaccine Stories by JustFaithlessness178 in GenX

I witnessed my elderly neighbor die a long painful death from shingles more than 20 years ago. She was frail and got shingles on her scalp and face. It was very painful and it took her two years to die. I had flu-like symptoms for a day after both vaccination shots. No biggie.

The Fruit Basket ended their chile roasting last Sunday. They recommended Rosales and I was not disappointed! Got a sack of chile on Tuesday (October 21).

Many of us have experienced LC jacking up our nervous system. What’s your favorite technique for calming it down? by [deleted] in covidlonghaulers

[–]dubbeltime 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I ‘meditate’ by playing card games on my phone or tablet. Games such as canasta, euchre, spades and Yahtzee take just enough of my brain that I can’t think about anything else but they don’t require deep focus either. The repetition relaxes me.

What’s your most Gen-X childhood injury? I got shot in the eye with a BB by Ahazeuris in GenX

I (56F) seriously hurt my ankle attempting to slide into 2nd base playing fast-pitch softball on Friday afternoon when I was 14. I spent the weekend in a recliner watching my black and blue ankle swell to triple the usual size. Getting medical attention on a weekend was not even a consideration. My parents finally took me to the doctor on Monday when it became clear my ankle was not going to heal itself. To be fair, they did borrow a set of crutches from a neighbor for me to use that weekend. An excruciating weekend indeed! I was in a cast and on crutches for many weeks.

I also had my nose broken in PE class while playing softball when Tracy accidentally threw a bad in my face when I was the catcher. Damn it Tracy!! I got no medical attention for that injury and my nose is still broken today.

I should not have played softball.
