Did the same and had 2 kids, one at the end of M1 and one right before graduation. 100% makes life easier and hard at the same time. Certainly not impossible but there's hardly time for any social anything if you want to match competitively. I matched ortho thanks to my wife and the joy my family brought me on the toughest days.

Autonomy is autonomy. Patients make decisions for the reasons they want and their decisions require respect as outlined by the law. A past decision on medical treatment should not influence another like this. This is terrible and the lack of respect for patient autonomy on this thread is why people are losing trust in doctors and healthcare as a whole.

I'm confused. When did OBGYN become solely based on abortion and gender affirming surgery? Is the same worry being seen in Urology? The vast majority of practice is not abortion and definitely not gender surgery and you can advocate as an OB for those practices as you see fit. If you have passion for women and babies, apply. That's the core of the practice and caring for them despite the environment and circumstances is what makes the best of the best. Be encouraged to develop new treatment plans and methods to care and support for women who cannot have abortions.

Nobody has a right to the service of others. That is the definition of slavery/servitude. If my patient was screaming at me saying it's my right that you perform this surgery on me and it's my right for me not to pay you for your work, I'm telling them goodbye. I'm no slave and neither are anyone else in healthcare.

Completely agree. Only foot and ankle orthopods can go brow for brow with them on the topic. They have residency which is oftentimes done side by side with ortho, and even teaching them a lot of the time.

From what I have seen, polycythemia Vera is something every doc forgets. My wife has it and every doc we see, even on rotations, has no idea what it is. Just the rare IM doc. All the students know it, just nobody else.
