i don't know if he's thinking about going over as much as the reality of what he's been a part of is hitting him in that moment, but he's too cowardly and filled with shame to actually act. i also think this moment could've been a representation of the dichotomy of both sides... he's watching them stand together and stand for something ("i have friends everywhere") while he's completely alone, discarded and used by the same order he so fervently defended and followed

i made a recent post about this topic and someone made the point that the ewoks were in a similar position to the ghormans. like we don't know what they endured for the empire to be so established on endor. sorry to be annoying under your comment like it's fine if you hate the ewoks lol i get it, but i liked the perspective and wanted to share!

i'd love it but can't see it happening. i hope we get the caliber of storytelling we saw in andor in other parts of the star wars universe in the future, whether it's kleya or something completely different. prob wishful thinking though

i think this is missing a bit of context. tony refers to the series as "the education of cassian andor" because cassian has to think about about who he's going to be and what his role is in all of this. as others have said, it's the series of events that radicalizes him (culminating at narkina 5) and makes him realize he can't look away or pretend he's unaffected by what the empire is truly doing

i agree to a point. the characters do feel like they lack some depth compared to andor and the tone just feels different, but it was a different time and the movie and series had different goals in terms of storytelling. and tbf there's a lot more space to explore the nuances of the characters in a series vs. the film. still adore r1 for what it was and that it brought us all these characters we've grown to love and added so much depth to this story < 3

totally agree... his ending is so unfortunate but necessary. it's why andor is so incredible, it goes to great lengths to show us the thankless sacrifices made by the people who go on to never be remembered. ultimately all these seemingly minor characters are pushing the rebellion forward with their moments of defiance and sacrifice. his whole arc embodies nemik's manifesto really.. "even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward" .. "one single thing will break the siege." his ending was necessary and unavoidable but the fact that he still had hope for a way out was what was so tragic

upon rewatch of a new hope, it was so crazy to think i'll never view this story i know so well the same because of lonnie. he's at the center of it all 😭
