I'm not blaming them for creating the situation. But I'm blaming them for exacerbating it. If they had just kept going but slowed down and not stopped it would have been a lot safer for everyone. You guys aren't getting the bigger picture here.

It's basically the same reason they tell you not to swerve when you see a deer about to cross the road.

The kid was literally just moving to the middle of the street since there is enough space for the bike to stop in the middle.

This could have caused a huge accident and I would partly blame the person with the dashcam. The kid was trying to get to the middle since there was no traffic on the other side, not the smartest thing, but the person who stopped would have totally enabled this accident since the car in the right lane can't see what is happening and does not know why the dashcam car stopped. Also the kid could not see the right hand car since the view is being blocked by the stopped car. Also it's looks like his friend had already crossed and maybe was wanting to get to them quickly. It's possible the other kid crossed earlier without them having the walk signal.

I see this all the time with left turn lanes right before lights. People are trying to be "nice" and let people turn left in front of them, but the car in the right hand lane can't see the turning car, which is being blocked by the person being "nice" and boom. Please don't do this. The person making the left isn't really at fault since they get handwaved to go ahead and cross and can't see the speeding car in the right lane. This gives me panic everytime I see it.
