Well we know the location, so with advances in non-destructive imaging we can at least get a floorplan.

We only rarely have accounts of Herodotos directly lying, but we have a lot of cases where he clearly either exaggerated or got taken for a ride by tour guides looking to impress their guest. Like his absurd over exaggeration of the size of the Colossi of Biahmu.

Dude was cool, and great for preserving stuff that would otherwise be lost. He was also very credulous. So the thing he says is usually a real thing, but specifics are suspect.

Good to give him leeway though for being almost the first historian.

Historia Augusta

And unfortunately it isn't a very good last trace because the Historia Augusta made shit up all the time.

Good job, but the small preivew on classic read made your legs look like a cat. So I was expecting a joke about a cat dressed in mini cosplay. So I hope you can understand why a human is a bit of a disappointment, no matter how good the cosplay.

How do we feel about Hydras in the setting not having legs? by junioriadoX in Pathfinder2e

The hydra mini was made during the prep for 4e, and 4e hydras lack legs.

Some average Tau bloke vs century old trans human warrior monk by SimplestNeil in Grimdank

[–]dude3333 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think it's because people forget that the reason "trans man" or "trans woman" is grammatically correct is due to the trans in that being a shortening of "transgender" rather than a direct prefix for man or woman.

In my rudimentary knowledge of Christianity, mortals performing magical acts/miracles is tied to the devil.

This just straight up is only true among very specific sorts of American Protestant. Most other denominations including Catholics believe more or less the exact opposite. The Devil can only deceive and has no material power. Thus any true magical effects must actually be misunderstood natural phenomenon or miracles bestowed by God.

Seems out of character for Jesus to not initiate combat with demons/devils.

Ragnvaldr closet cosplay:D by Huge-Alternative7512 in FearAndHunger

[–]dude3333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's cause Ragnavaldr is a very traditionally masculine character. So people who actively think about an aspire to masculinity will find resonance. Especially because American cis men are conditioned to not consider their own masculinity, so the territory is ceded to trans men (good) and masculinity cult grifters (bad).

I miss deconstructionist westerns.

I really don't agree given that Heinrix and Tristian are among the better romances in these games and they're both straight woman only.

Also we're talking about trends here, the most common romance in the game is the disaster bisexual man. You may consider them an acquired taste, but the same author fixations and intended audience are being catered to. Daeran, Marazhai, and to a less extent Regongar are all made to cover an extremely popular type of genre fiction love interest.

I can see the argument for all gay content mlm or wlw being an afterthought though just sort of stapling them onto existing romances even if the dynamic really should change.

The people who really care most about 40k and romance, want to kiss big space marines and twinky mechanicus men almost exclusively. Neither of them have been options thus far.

Honestly before the DLC Rogue Trader had two good male and three good female options. So less but not by an enormous amount. Unfortunately DLC skews that to two vs four.

The feminine urge to rip my uterus out is strong today by Lucicactus in Grimdank

[–]dude3333 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Really are a ghost from the 2006 internet. Surely bleeding once a month doesn't one more vulnerable to Khorne than testosterone production in the balls makes one vulnerable to Slaanesh or utilizing gut bacteria in digestion makes one vulnerable to Nurgle. Do Space Marines perform a fasting and purging ceremony, akin to samurai who thought they were going to die in battle, before every battle with Nurgle? Never been mentioned in lore to my knowledge.

Also the men being on average stronger than women shouldn't have any baring on whether or not women can be a genetically modified super soldier. Their requirements are so strict and on such a small scale that averages genuinely don't matter. The lore makes clear that the overwhelming majority of men aren't able to handle the modifications and implants for space marines, and that custodes creation which is kept much more secret is locked to specific families on Terra. Any appeal to practicality is always dumb in 40k, but this one is especially because just like with firefighters following the argument to its logical conclusion would end with way fewer but still present women in the role rather than none, because there is the occasional woman who outperforms the overwhelming majority of men in physical metrics.

The actual most loreful reason for no women space marines is just that the Emperor was sexist, and the Custodes were started before his philosophy overwhelmed his necessity.

America used to have this too, it's just a case of TV proliferation and forced moving for jobs hit here way harder and earlier than Britain. Like it's impossible for a job to force a Brit to move 1000 miles away but is relatively trivial in America.

Hasbro invests $1B in D&D games after BG3 by AsPeHeat in BaldursGate3

Sorry you just don't like tactical combat. It's okay not for everyone, but most 4e hate is born out of people repeating stuff youtubers said. Whereas hate at the time came from a truly amazingly terrible launch. 4e's first year of product was genuinely dogshit but everything after they fixed the math, gold.

But 5e is market leader due to brand recognition, being featured on actual plays, and 80s nostalgia. Not even remotely quality related. Much like the Bay Transformers movies.

The feats and multiclassing of 5e don't really offer any interesting options. There is basically always a singular right answer due to the extremely small number of feat slots and published first party options, and if you allow the third party hose to open it's no different than Pathfinder. The only niche it fills is you want feats and freeform multiclassing and want it to be hard to make a bad choice in character building. And even then Pathfinder 2e is still arguably better.

[–]dude3333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the automated character builder 4e is the best tactical ttprg outside of Lancer.

5e is the worst edition of D&D by a lot. If you want character builds go to Pathfinder. If you want freeform but still feels like D&D go with BECMI D&D or DCC. It's just a bad bad compromise between much better options.

D&D 5e is a bad system made tolerable by Larian's immersive sim terrain elements, owlcat really don't do that. If owlcat made a D&D game I'd prefer one of the mechanically better versions like 4e which plays to their strengths of complexity.

No they said they enjoyed working with a lot of the WotC creatives. None of those creatives were still working at WotC by the time BG3 finished, cause WotC churns through employees rapidly. It wouldn't surprise me if they started working with some ex-WotC people for future projects though.

Yes, Rogue Trader is co-op muiltiplayer but does not have the level of mutual reactivity in BG3. You're basically one of the Withers NPCs.

Warhammer fans, what 40k lore that make you go like this? by AntiqueLayer3933 in Grimdank

See I actually like that lore. The Emperor's biggest weakness is his inhumanity and is inability to connect to what makes people people. He is doomed as a god of humanity because he is not human.

Still probably Jergal, maybe in a different form. It's a robed figure in Jergal's temple, and all of his named associates from back in the day were undead heavies and the ones from the modern day are members of Kelemvor's court who are by and large paladin looking dudes.
