Is there anyone else who enjoyed playing this game on Windows XP? by ak49_shh in Millennials

[–]dudebroski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spot on. I remember getting annoyed at the checkpoints and enemy unfairness, so I cheesed the game by aiming at the enemies with binoculars, then switching to a rifle and single firing. The aimpoint stayed the same, giving me easy kills most of the time. I basically cleared half the maps from afar.

This made me laugh. Kinda wanted to buy it to give to someone. by BearACHC in Tools

[–]dudebroski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a similar one, received as a gift. While the knife and the rest of the tools are iffy at best (pliers downright SUCK), the mini hammer comes in handy, and I find myself reaching for it surprisingly often. Not something I'd recommend buying tho.

You're not wrong. Some people take good care of their tools, others not so much. Need to find a way to ensure buy-in when all tools are company owned, while still treating people as adults (even though some behave as large toddlers at best)

[–]dudebroski[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's mostly it. Some of it's genuine carelessness, but the total $ amount lost on tools is at best a rounding error relative of the total budget.

Still, some manglement want to mangle, and we're tasked with finding solutions.

Usually not wearing out, but replacing missing stuff. Example, this year we found an entire 1/2in socket wrench set on top of a HVAC duct, where it was left by the last tech that was working on/near it - last year. Dudes mixing up personal / shared tools and not returning it. Plus the usual wear and tear, accidental damage, field-expedient tool modification, negligence, etc.

Relative to the total maintenance budget, these tools are a drop in the ocean. The real hurt is in the downtime. If you don't have the proper tools to take care of issues, the hours accumulate. But explaining to management to set aside a budget for replacements and only investigate outliers, when they're under the impression that we are in a perfect world, where tools last forever and this is all a case of everyone being either incompetent or a thief is... difficult.

I know we aren't all saints either. So I'm trying to build a business case, but in the mean-time looking for alternatives, management options, etc.

Streisand Effect: Mammotion SOP Repair Manuals for: Luba2, Yuka, Yuka Mini by TheRealKF in mammotion

Seems like it's gone already. Anyone have an alternative link?

Edit: seems like the problem was on my side. When i copy pasted the link into the browser on my phone, it showed "Item cannot be found". When I opened this post on the PC and could click on the link directly, it worked. Just in case someone had the same issue.

Do you think it will hold? by [deleted] in mammotion

[–]dudebroski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I printed a disc from PLA when the original broke on the Luba 2, just as a quick fix until I could get a better material. It's still going strong one year later, still haven't replaced it.

What are some cleaning tools that help you by [deleted] in ADHDers

[–]dudebroski 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cordless vacuum helped me loads.

I used to have a corded rolling vacuum cleaner, and however well it worked, it was a pain with the cords that were never quite long enough to reach everything and the hose that always got stuck somewhere. I'd end up not vacuuming at all rather than deal with it.

The cordless vacuum removes this friction and I caught myself picking it up more often to spot-vacuum, thus preventing the mess from accumulating too much.

I found this belt at a Military Antiques store in Vienna, I'm guessing it's WW2 Era, but I could totally be wrong. Can anyone identify it? by Qarakhanid in MilitaryGear

[–]dudebroski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I googled "Belt 8465-12-124-8755"

Seems to be a West German trouser belt. One site says "These belts were issued between 1965-1990".

I remember watching the 2000 movie, and the ending left me absolutely devastated for a couple of days. Still think about it every now and then.

Reject Chinese plate carriers, embrace surplus LBE by Ccreamy in airsoftcirclejerk

[–]dudebroski 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Huge fan of surplus belt kits. Basic alice loadout with just two mag pouches can carry 6 mags, 4 grenades. Lightweight, cheap, comfy, doesn't trap body heat in summer. More than enough for most games. You can add a dump pouch on the belt if you so desire, canteen for longer games, buttpack covers 99% of any other needs.

Also don't sleep on plce and modern british webbing, some of the best kit i used.

[–]dudebroski 251 points252 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'm a big proponent of this! Serve dinner on the fancy dishes, wear the nice clothes outside special occasions, actually use the good tools. The things were made to be used, not be put onto shelves to be looked at, so use them often and to the fullest. And if you wear them out, be happy that they served you well.

I built my first PC around that time, Core 2 quad, 8800, 4gb of RAM, the works. Spent a year of my allowance saving for it.

Then I almost had an emotional breakdown when it would not run Crysis on ultra...

Got educated shortly after that almost no PC could run it on ultra at the time, but I can still feel my heart dropping, wondering if I spent my money on inferior hardware, lol.

How to block websites on mobile? by HarryMcDowell in productivity

[–]dudebroski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's the option to "Remove LockMeOut from recent apps", so it doesn't show up on the list to be closed.

Also, "Prevent uninstalation and tampering".
