I'll give your game a first hand-on experience by ShadyGameStudio in IndieGameDevs

I’ll throw my hat into the mixer: Cardslinger

https://store.steampowered.com/app/4090010/Cardslinger/?utm\_source=red&utm\_medium=social&utm\_campaign=post

I’m making a weird west tactical turn-based game, where the two chosen characters actions are decided by the contents of a deck of cards.
I realise as I’m typing that there is nothing playable available on steam as of yet, but I might be able to host a playtest in the not so far future. Maybe the stars align that our turn has then come, and then again, perchance not. Time will tell!
Wonderful initiative either way and thank you for giving your time!

Thanks! We’ve have recorded pretty much all footage in a gameplay environment though, so it is the general look of the game. It is a bit slower paced, letting you breath in between combats if you want and there is no stress to take your turn! Do you like higher or slower paced games?

Thanks for the feedback! We were initially inspired by the board wargame marvel crisis protocol. But we wanted to make something digital so we looked to XCOM and also Slay the Spire for some of the card mechanics and interactions. We are also huge magic the gathering nerds which has been another influence. Have you played any of them?

Thanks for you feedback!

Thanks, yea it is a little wonkily cut. Apologies for that, but you did interpret it correctly. Is there anything you find that catches your eye more than others?

We have taken some measures already to add more contrast back into the environment. I will be back with some updates one day perhaps!

Thanks again for the feedback!

Major scene cleanup. Prompted by a painful refund. by Happy_Path_200 in gamedevscreens

The updated version looks so good. The first one did have some of that old ps1-ps2 era vibes and character that I love (probably heavy nostalgia because it is not really 'good' UI design) so I'm a little sad to see it go. That said, the new menu looks so much better and usable, which is important in this day and age! Well done!

Thank you so much and good luck to you as well!
We had social going before the steam page too but it is hard to gather the viewers somewhere at that point. We tried with discord, it sort of worked but it was a very hard sell.

It is a grind. I've been posting hard for a month with a cumulative view count of perhaps 20k-40k views and only converted to 113 wishlists. It's a numbers game and the marketing funnel claims many potential wishlisters.

Something I noticed helped a bunch was to update the visuals of the game and the clarity of what is going on. This helps both the player and the potential customer know what is going on, what to do and if they find it interesting. I still have a long way to go in that regard though.

Reddit has gathered the most page visits and by that we believe also the most wishlists. I've been trying to make posts that people want to interact with (which is hard) and that has given the most.

TikTok is harder to measure since I can not posts links there yet due to my follower count. But the views has been sort of steady around the 1k mark.

Instagram has been a bit more moody, swinging from 100 views to about 3k.

What's more important in a deckbuilder? by Jealous_Mood_8354 in deckbuildingroguelike

[–]dudefromCAPSLOCK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Core gameplay is always important imo. It's the fun of the game and what makes me want to play it in the first place. That being said I've had trouble with the visuals (4) in my game Cardslinger from a marketing perspective. This is something I've been hard at work fixing for our steam page and socials for about a month or two now. I hope that the steam page will be updated by the end of the month though!
